Just how "Advanced" was Ancient Egypt..?

A school of music that studies the rhythm of nature, a school of fashion that studies the elegance of the Universe, a school of design that studies the architecture of the ancients, a school of philosophy that studies the time-tested Truth.

Actually, that makes alot of sense...What he's saying is that to anyone that thinks we are more advanced than an ancient civilization because of things like invention, would have to consider the fact that they do things differently...Because they rode chariots instead of H2's, doesn't mean they can't understand the concept of the automobile...

Meanwhile you criticize him, and add nothing to the discussion yourself... :x

Because...it doesnt make any sense.

Took 'em 400 years to make the wheel....takes us 10 minutes to improve/repair it.

we ride H2's over chariots because they're more effective.

we're improved...in every single aspect....theres no way of arguing it.

But......Ancient Egypt has always fasinated me...I plan to go see the pyramids in my lifetime.

You truly have no grasp of reality, and or you don't really know how to address something you have no deep or formal knowledge of...These things come as common sense to me, at least from your points...But, like I said, I'm hip to you...

Necessity is the mother of invention...

If you're not travelling great distances, the hell you gonna invent a wheel for..? If everthing you need to have access to is less than a 3 minute walk away.......As man expanded, so did a means of transportation...Does that make sense..? How do you know that a gas guzzling, enviroment killing, earth resource depleting automobile is a better alternative to a horse draw chariot that drinks water, eats grass, and shits a rich fertilizer is better for desert travel..?

We are improved in every aspect, yet we have no way to understand their mathematics...Every math we have, we got from them, and can't understand it...I'm assuming you knew that, what do you have to explain it..? And, with the significant time you've spent studying ancient culture, how do you explain their achievements..?

::sighs::

looks like someones opinion of me has really slipped through the discussions man.....I don't have the time orthe way to word it into a single post in order to show my views on everything.......all you ever seem to come away with from my posts is that im an ignorant wanna-be know-it-all and shit.

I take in your points...I feel as though...on any given day I could be arguing your side as well.

My shit is understandin......give me a head nod and just say that you understand what I'm saying and where I'm coming from...but we have different values........Stop talkin down on me like I don't get anything.

It's not talking down on you Homez, why would you think that..???

Think of it like this...

I'm a grown man...I like grown things...That includes my discussions...You don't expect me to have some sort of...Leeway with you on matters of intelligent discussion with you, like you're not intelligent, do you..?

I talk to you and treat you like one of my peers, and that's real...Knowledge wise, I expect great things from you...Idea wise, I expect great things of everyone that posts here...I am not in any way being judgemental...You come out with these...Brash statements, and no information...No foundation...No explanation...

And who is it you expect to let you ride on that..? Shid, I won't, never...And I don't want anybody to let me ride either...You seem to need to understand that this forum is FULL of smart muthafuckas that read and study different shit...You come at us and want respect, it must first be given through carefully placed words and thoughts...

I am no ancient Egypt expert...But I have been patient enough to take the time and learn about them, after I myself was caught doing what you were doing...

Spouting off...

If you know that you don't know as much about ancient Egypt as others, shouldn't your first reply in the thread be a question..?? Instead, we read stuff like:

Took 'em 400 years to make the wheel....takes us 10 minutes to improve/repair it.

My thing is, what is your point of reference..? You can't just be like, "ah, we're better," when you don't know that much about the time period or the culture..?

What am I supposed to take from that..?

I DO know alot about the culture and the people of many periods of Ancient Egypt, and can honestly say we have it better.

We are more advanced:

Technologically -
(for exactly the reason LG cited.)
(The egyptians DESTROYED the Nile valley with no consideration for the environment)

Socially -
Egyptians had very primitive based family accociations, because beyond Mother Sister Father Brother, there was only Pharoah and his emissaries.

Mathematically -
they had no Zero. nuff said. Most of the math they DID have came from India, Greece, and Ethiopia.

Politically -
No division of church and state. State bowed to church who bowed to Pharoah.

Their architecture was astounding but there is no indication that is was developed by Egyptians (I BET it was samothracian/Canaanites), and no reason to say that we can't reproduce it.

People misunderstand the claim we "cannot reproduce the architectural miracles of the Egyptians".,.. we can not reproduce it by the means which we assume would be available to them at the time in the region, by our own means.. there is nothing they have done in this capacity that we cannot.

The same is not true of the mayans or the Canaananites... anfd the hanging gardens are far more impressive demonstrations of the genius of Babylon, which is likely where the architects of Egypt came from (with Samothracian influence from Pythagoras and Cadmus, the Greek who started the First Egyptian Dynasty.)

A Mer A Ita Sep Tum Ankhu.

(I make my way among the living.)

If that is sufficient enough evidence to imply that a civilization is better as you say raum (as it was the only one given that I could see), then I must have my head up my ass pretty far...Not impossible, but certainly not likely, I am pretty sure that the Egyptian civilization improved upon the wheel they had before them...I stand by what it said because it makes sense...

If in the year 2150, there are no automobiles, just people riding personal jet packs on their backs because driving a car became obsolete for good reasons, do they have it better..? Are they better off..? Yes, there are advantages, but as great as they may be, there is an equal and potnent set of disadvantages...

QUOTE(raum)(The egyptians DESTROYED the Nile valley with no consideration for the environment)

And...Today we live in a society that completely respects and has great consideration for the enviroment in stark contrast..?

we at least have a developing understanding,

we have built upon the ancient civilizations, and thus our system is an advancement of theirs -

including level

there is certainly room for improvements and further advancements.
