It's not lately, its ALL THE TIME...You are forever riding on somebody...Deepak for his poems...Aemeth for his rapping...And it's not constructive criticism...What you are saying is not, "Maybe you should try to relax a bit, the way you come over the track seems rushed," you are saying, "Damn, this is horrible, why not try cooking..?"

LG what you need to realize is that if you're not a rapper...Can't rap, haven't rapped, don't want to rap, or whatever the fuck, you look less than constructive telling someone:

as smart as you are...why you persist on this? persistance doesnt always equal sucess.......you got bigger fish to fry....the music industry is rough........to me it seems like you're devoting your time to the wrong things......rapping should be a hobby..

This is not a constructive comment...That is a nice way of saying, "Give up," and that's my problem with it...Where do you get off telling somebody that they shouldn't try to persue something they enjoy..? That's not your call Homez, and what you are doing if you're not trying to help him and what he is doing, is fucking hating...

He didn't ask you, "Do you guys think I should keep rapping," he asked for opinions on the piece...You can't seem to offer that, and I just find it annoying...Nobody told you that you couldn't be a college coach when you mentioned it...Aemeth isn't all in your thread, telling you that you can't make the cut in that...Nobody said, "Coaching is rough...If you're not that good of a high school player now, you are devoting time to the wrong thing...Basketball should be a hobby for you, quit the team and work on your studies..."

Especially when I know I've heard worse people rapping right now, with deals...I know people personally that have deals that can't rap for shit...

I might be wrong, but its just not your place to be tellign somebody what they can and can't do with their life, like you've been there and done that...I don't see how you think that's cool...Or that somebody wants to read that...

all this talking you doing about not wanting to read what i gotta say....then don't dude.

this isn't about you.....how do you get more angry about what I say to Aemeth than he did.....he took it constructively in his reply.......

I'm not allowed an opinion on wehther or not he'll make it to the next level based on where hes at?

and the direct relation to me fails.....the ability to play basketball and the ability to coach basketball aren't the same.....Just because I'm not 6'5'' and I can't jump very high has nothing to do with the fact that I love the game and am continously watching and learning and my basketball IQ is yet to be matched as far as lineup changes...strategy...... Trying to say I wont be a good coach becasue i'm not an all-star player is just a false statement......telling someone they cant rap.....when you've heard how they rap.....is a fair opinion that can be made.....shit the first thing I told him was its much improved.....thats hatin' huh?

I think we all need to take a step back and realize that we are dealing with a person that is at the appex of intelligence and leave it at that.

telling someone they cant rap.....when you've heard how they rap.....is a fair opinion that can be made.....

Sigh...I throw my hands up...I'm with you Rim...Cause its just getting worse...

What you are failing to see, is that whether or not he can rap has no bearing on him being able to make a career out of it...Every rapper w/a deal isn't nice with words...Every rapper making millions of dollars, isn't a great lyricist...Every rapper doesn't have a great voice...Right now, somebody thinks 50 cent is the worst rapper alive...But I bet you his ass is getting paid like a rapper...

When your train of thought leaves the station, maybe I'll get on it...

Someone says, "I'm trying to learn to make chocolate, here, taste this, and tell me what you think it needs..."

LG says, "Yuk..! You shouldn't be cooking chocolate, its very hard to do...This is the worst shit ever...I think I'm going to puke...You should be a preschool teacher..."

What make sense, "This chocolate is bitter and nasty...Maybe if you add more cane sugar, it would be better..."

Nobody asked for a half assed, rootless assesment of personal ability, like Def Jam is ready to cut you a check...He's asking for improvement tips...An opinion on the work...And if you can't give one, but would rather give your very limited pov and criticism and blunt personal attacks, that is what I call hate...Him saying he doesn't mind you isn't saying that he is reading and taking heed...

He's probably ignoring you...

nah, LG,.. you got the wrong attitude about this.

he's doing something he has a passion for... not something he thinks is a guaranteed money ticket.

Dude, if i only did the shit i expect to get paid from, I wouldn't be here. I wouldn't study, mediate, nothing.

it's not about what you can do to earn your money... its what you do to BE WHO YOU ARE.

Aemeth asked "what do think of this track"

we don't rip someone apart like this if they post in The Word. when Deepak came up, we helped him, as best as our non-paid writing asses could, and he got way better. We didn't say "quit writing" we said "get better" get confident get focused.

Does that mean Deepak dropped it all to become a poet. God I hope not. Sorry, Dee- but you have more than writing in your future. (i think you are really capable of studying Jungian psychology, btw)

I re-iterate, Aemeth asked "what you think about this?" not "What do you think about me becoming a professional rapper?"

Some of the stuff you say is likely true, but it is blunt to the point of confrontational, presumptive, and most of all, it was not flexible. You could have said the same thing to him, in a "yo man, its a good thing you selling them shoes, cause them platinum album sales on hold for a minute." But to be honest the way you attacked him for sharing this with us was like you are resentful that you can't become a professional rapper, or something that you *dream* of becoming.

As far as broke artist, I was one for almost two years, before I got some props. hell, I was barely making unemployment when i met Ty... and now i am working to be an executive, and it is my "horrible art" (with all those geometry elements and associations) that became effective presentation skills for complex data structure, and now I am an honorary associate of one of the largest corporations in any Global Energy market.

and i was about ready to go get a job at the grocery store except my angel kept telling me "Become the King You ARE" an forced my feet down the path of the Magus.

and if you would communicate the same *truth* that Aemeth is prolly setting himself up in a way he might not forsee, with a bit less grit, you would also convey another vital thing... that you are friendly and honest. See, Aemeth to me sounds like he got some confidence issues to work out, and this is a perfect exercise in doing so. I also think you have some inadequacy issues, and while some of us are picking up on his effort, you are picking away at his vulnerability, so it let's you turn your internal criticism to someone else and gives you a minute you ain't feeling eaten away from the inside by the doubts about your ability and your future. That's your shadow, man... BE THE LIGHT.

What is more important that you tell people what you REALLY think, or that you honestly listen and answer their questions, so you can find the answers you yourself seek?

think carefully on that... it is a great landmark in maturity.

pm me, man. We need to talk more. I was gonna drop this to you in a pm, but I felt a few other people might benefit from hearing it. The least of which are mentioned in here.

in friendship and brotherhood,
Ch

QUOTE(Lost Ghost)lyrics are nice.....its improved......but your main problem still lingers....its just the way you flow....the way your voice sounds on a track isn't enjoyable.... You're trying....and its evident...like I said you've improved on this one...the flow was better but the way you sound still makes me cringe....and I dont know if thats fixable man...

This was my reply to hearing the piece.....in my opinion....there is no way that is attacking him...it's an honest and constructive critism that I feel is accurate. In this instance, I'm not telling him anything about his ability to succed or not.....Granted I did go and do that later....but my first response was nothing but my honest opinion.......and as I'm sure he probably did....he read it....might have shook his head and said some "yep..." but in the end that reply aint gonna stop him from doing what hes doing.....

The other thread I was ripping him.....but that's the other thread......and I'm sure the only one he even considered was the one that I critqued the piece....the other one he probably skipped over...but if he didnt....let me re-iterate...

Do ya thing.....I don't know wtf I'm talking about.....you make it? good for you.. You don't? I'm still ya brother on this site and the forum got ya back.....

That's not sarcasm....and it's long overdue......but take it an understand beef is beef.....who am I to tell a person they can't accomplish they dreams?

Raum......I'll re-read what you wrote (gotta jump in the shower)...and I'll hit you up with a PM about it....

to your credit, your comments in this thread were FAR more friendly. even showed some acknowledgement of improvement.

I ain't saying sweeten his pucker. I am just saying realize people do things they don't expect to get paid for, and sometimes it has a way of working toward a unforseen reward. You seem to acknowledge that as well.
