I'd also like to point out, if it weren't for Vista, you probably wouldn't need to stick more RAM in with ReadyBoost.. lol
You'd get better performance by adding more RAM then you would using ReadyBoost. Since you can get a 2GB dual channel DDR2 kit for under $100 now I see no reason not to.

Why would you need more than 2GB memory, that's already in your friggen laptop, Uber?
What, you running industry-standard multimedia creation applications such as Maya, Premiere or Acid on there..?

Laptops are able to support 4GB RAM now (newer ones). ReadyBoost was actually designed for systems with 512MB RAM if not much less. Benchmarks that I have seen show nothing for systems with 1GB RAM or more.

Vista boots pretty quick. Don't know that readyboost will really improve anything...

So I installed Vista this week and I love it! But....I'm going to be heading back to XP on Monday. The reason is that my computer is pretty basic and so my Vista Experience Level is a whopping 1. I can see that Vista is awesome and that it would be great to have, but it has slowed my computer down and just isn't going to work on this machine. The next computer I get will be better and then I'll keep with Vista

Went back to XP myself. Also using Ubuntu 7.04.
No matter how much I tried to like Vista it still doesn't beat XP at anything. I'll probably install it on a second partition on my desktop machine when a Direct X 10 game worth playing comes out (UT3? Crysis? both looking a bit Duke Nukem Foreverish in being released).
Hopefully the service pack improves it...

I suspect they're going to be downwards compatible (which means more XP for me, yay!).
Though, I haven't actually looked into this, so don't take it for granted (unless you know otherwise).
I'll see if I can find something in the next few days.

Yeah all the games will be Direct X 9 compatible (Crysis, UT3, Quake Wars). I think only Halo 2 was Direct X 10 / Vista only. It couldn't be financially viable to release a PC game as Vista only. I don't think Halo 2 has sold too well.
