After watching Rodgers this past year and this preseason, I see why the Pack was like ''fuck Favre''..! The Pack won't loose many games this year, I can almost guarantee that man...The lost a lot of close games last year, but this year...This offense looks like Madden...

And I say the Cardinals will return to form...Not last years form, but the form before that that they're known for...I still haven't seen the Saints this preseason though...But so far, I like the Pack and the Eagles...And of course, I think the Pats are the team to beat in the AFC...

I don't really want to post any links at this moment, because I can just sum up the news and it will be factual (without the backup). if you would like to learn more about the news in-depth, that's fine, but this is just my overview.

It is now (un)official. Every team in the NFL now has their starting quarterbacks set and decided.

The shakers and movers in the competition were:

Tampa Bay - ...now has Byron Leftwich running the ship after being in a 3-way bout among the veteran ungroomed backup in Luke McGown and rookie draft "savior" Josh Freeman to be the Bucs' offensive captain ... we'll wait and see if he can avoid hitting the rocks and crashing throughout the entire season (a la Griese/Garcia)

San Fran - in a two-man comp. between 2007-2008 re-starter Shaun Hill and former 1st round pick Alex Smith, Shaun Hill wins the nod to be the 49ers capable but unattractive playmaker (seriously, he'll put up points some weeks, but don't be amazed by the wobbly ball)

New York Jets - another rookie draftee QB won out, this time it was mark Sanchez over the leftover backup, Kellen Clemens

The Vikings - after a near two-month duel between remaining Vikes QB T. Jackson and the newest acquisition in Sage Rosenfels, it looked as if Tarvaris had the upper hand; then he got hurt, and the keys to starter-dom were thrown to the former Houston-gunslinger Sage... but as oft occurs, he was intercepted at the most inopportune time, and it was by none other than by the un-retiree legend, Brett Favre.

The Lions - Most good analysts say that it was important that Culpepper be given the nod as the starter to ease 2009 overall #1 Stafford into his future position; the Lions don't listen to any such nonsense "good news" talk, and instead name Stafford as the starter.

Cleveland - The last of the teams to cement their starter QB, the competition was between the young "shining knight" in Brady Quinn, and the fallen star in Derek Anderson. The difference here is: the new coach wants us to guess who he has chosen as the Browns' starter, just for the fun/"despair-ity" of it. Mangini: "Not until Sunday, boys!"

Kansas City - no word yet who will start in the west after golden boy Matt Cassel was injured; he may still start week 1, but if what is being whispered around, he has a timeline to miss the first three games at least. My hopes is that they throw Tyler Thigpen back into that fire in which he thrives, but he needs to prove his grit against his competition in Brodie Croyle.


less important news:
Dan Orlovsky is Houston's answer to if and (in most minds) when Matt Schaub goes down in Houston for a few weeks... similarly, the other Texas rival in the state has picked up Jon Kitna from Detroit in order to better insure the success in which the Cowboys' Tony Romo will provide. It's right weird that both (out of a possible 4) of Detroit's starters from last year end up as a backup in Texas.

The Redskins competition amongst the former "America's most popular backup quaterback" (Colt Brennan) and undrafted rookie free agent signing Chase Daniel has finally come to an end; in a spectacular unclimatic finish, Brennan could not prove he was worth more than Todd Collins for the #2 QB spot, so he was left to scrap with Daniel for the leftover spot #3... but he eventually got hurt late, placed on IR, and Chase Daniel was ultimately cut.

it's a matter of when for Warner: everyone is placing their bets on when he is going to down this season, and I'd not be surprised if there were Vegas odds on a given week... former starter Matt Leinart is still there as the backup in Az., but the press sure made it out to seem as though he almost lost in the competition for the job.

It's so easy to forget about Oakland, I nearly did it here: the Raiders cut veteran Jeff Garcia, so I have no idea what they are going to do, or who their backup for J. Russell is... I doubt it matters, though, because the organization is not going to realize they're failings yet, so if starter Jamarcus goes down at any time, the team might actually get better.

I don't care for him, but I'm not going out of my way to deride him either. I, though, seem to be in the minority in thinking that he will not lead the Vkings to a Super Bowl this year, let alone even make the playoffs (they need TWO lucky come-on-top games to even win the division this year; any less, and they'll be crying icicles in January.)

What's the over-under on games played total for Favre? I say he starts feeling his age by week 9, and the following 2 weeks, he throws only one aerial score.

Also, over-under on Leftwich starts in Tampa Bay? I say if he under-performs and the team has less than 2 wins by week 5, he gets benched. So, who do you think replaces him?

And, I really want to start hearing your entirely-too-premature playoff pictures for this season, and your eventual Super Bowl XXIV teams. After hearing all the late-night and morning-drive sports talk shows, and the net blogs, all offering up their ridiculous playoff brackets for this year, I thought we could have some fun with it, too. I wanted to start this countdown on Tuesday, but I've gotten lazy and forgetful as usual, so if there's enough of a positive response we can kick off our predictions this evening before kickoff.

Come to think of it, I need to head out to the local corner shop soon to pick up some snacks and refreshments. I hate the NFL for starting the NFL season a week later than it should have started, but damn, do they know how to build the suspense. :D

Not really hate him, but damn man, just when you think its time to get to work and play some fucking ball, he provides another damn distraction...All of a sudden, the Jets knew he was hurt and that's what he was stinking up the place...I mean, come the fuck on man...He's in the news in the off season, the season, like...Don't you wish he would have fucking stayed in Kiln this year..?

I want Brett to get a career ending Brady injury in the first play in the first game against The Pack...I want Aaron Rodgers to have a 4 touchdown, 400 yard, 80% completion day, and I want Brett to be forced to retire instead of all this fucking hoopla about finished and unfinished...I want the last memory of him to be him riding off the field in cart, having gotten hurt throwing a pick 6 for his last NFL pass...

I completely understand how Favre has disrespected his once loyal fanbase to this debauchery of hooliganism and general deception. No one other than Michael Jordan himself should be able to ponder the realities and ramifications of permanent retirement and then change his mind in a snap just because they feel like it.
