Hebollah is victorious

After all that, even the loss of my distant cousin... Hezbollah is victorious.

Lebanon, ravaged by war, sees the neded for Hezbollah more than ever. Peace-keeping forces deployed on the border are not safe, and invite possibility for an international intervention in the future. Lebanon will be rebuilt, and hezbollah will help.

I never wanted to see this war, but Israel's acceptance of a cease fire was ill-timed. And they barely made a dent in Hezbollah's ranks and armaments. If anything they just guaranteed they can make good use of weaponry in Israel, and will recieve heavy munitions based on their lasting reputation of resistance against Israel.

The Israel that emerges in this truce is critically suffering something you cannot afford to have nowadays. A percieved hesitation to war that decimates your enemies.

And Israel doesn't believe the cease-fire will last... and who knows what they will do if provoked again.

More terrorism will happen, for Hezbollah shows it is effective.

Yep...I saw parts of this story on the news early in the A.M., and could only shake my head...

c'mon, Kramer... seriously.

I was not celebrating Hezbollah's victory,.. i was addressing the sentiment that they did in fact survive, and that was the only requirement for their victory. If anything this is YET ANOTHER chance Israel gives them,.. a chance they will also likely blow.

their goal of "surviving" was achieved.

did israel get their soldiers back, yet?

who won?

The "invincible army" of Israel or Hezbollah, who have already cancelled the talks to disarm, have yet to give Israel any of their prisoners, and are being offered jobs to train other countries in the tactics that allowed them to persevere in the last conflict, and strike israel such as no one had yet EVER had been able to, and GAIN RESPECT IN THE UN DOING IT.

this punctuated tolerance for terrorism in the world. this stage is tantamount to activating on an international scale, for it will be espoused as a key evidence to the "righteousness" of their cause.

I can only hope he's right...

Bush: 'Hezbollah suffered a defeat'

Either way you can't really say that this is an out right win for Hezbollah. That's just naive, man. They got the shit kicked out of them. Several hundred of their fighters were killed. They're low on munitions; they launched over 4,000 into Israel, and I'm sure Israel destroyed at least another couple thousand... not to mention all the RPGs and shit they captured. They won't be able to move around the South as easily as they used to.

what possible outcome would have been a success for israel in this conflict? the only one i can think of is a swift return of the two missing soldiers, and the verified elimination of some bearded hezbolla leader. this was a job for special forces, not the public and foolish display of force they went with. frankly they left themselves with no good out, though this ceasefire is at least better than yet another occupation.

It's not over yet. Isreal fell into the same trap that the U.S. fell into in Iraq, they forgot that the Arab world gets a pass no matter what they do. We will get the last laugh in the end.
