Up to a million cluster bomblets discharged by Israel in its conflict with Hezbollah remain unexploded in southern Lebanon, the UN has said.

oh yeah. Israel does stick to its "self defence" rethoric. Personally I think this is appaling. Certainly so, since they were all shot during the last few hours (days, hopefully) of the conflict.

where's the ethica, I wonder?!

You should ask the guys who were stuffing ball bearings into Hezbollah's rockets... do you even try to be objective? /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

linky. linky?! /huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" />

edit: never mind I found images, so apparently you are correct Kramer. Now... you (Israel) got into a full-scale war bombing bridges, airports, power station etc etc hundreds of miles away from where the fight started. You used the most advanced weaponry availble to man and you think equipping primitive missiles with "ball bearing" is an outrage?!

do you even try to be objective? /huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" />

I actually agree Israel's effort was wasted in this.

It was extreme reaction, but they didn't stay the course.

and for that, Hezbollah disarming is not even a issue anymore.

I make no pretense that Hezbollah is not to blame, but Israel was certainly not up to form, and damn near waxed incompetent, when they still didn't even get the hostages back.

If you must be a monster in the wake of your enemies, at least get the job done...

Uh, Brains... I didn't start this topics... All I'm saying is you should probably take a look at the other side before you start vilifying Israel...

And how is including thousands of ball bearings inside missiles not a fucking outrage? Are you kidding me? /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

have I somewhere mentioned that it is not an outrage Kramer? please read why I post...

I am not vilifying Israel chap. I am vilifying its use of advanced weaponry on civilian targets... do you understand the difference?

Brains, i think what is easy to see is you are openly villfying ISRAEL's use of advanced weaponry on LEBANESE civilian targets.

yet RARELY (if ever) do you OPENLY villify LEBANON's use of weaponry, which you maintain was used on ISRAELI civilians... and then you pass it off as being primitive.

its a damn good thing hezbollah didn't have cluster bombs... or thousands more would have died in israel.

Israel's use of the weapons was legal, and this article is about unexploded ammuntion left in the wake of Israeli strikes, not any ammo AIMED at destroying civilians.. this is unexploded ammo from air drops which acts to inhibit enemy movement, it is not a direct missile fire.

look. who got this conflict out of hand was Israel, not Hezbollah. Sure, the latter took the first step, but the former reacted totally out of proportion. in fact, bombs were not even necessary to have this dispute settled.

if Hezbollah (or the palestinians for that matter) would only have cluster bombs, F16, laser guided missiles, night-vision goggles, unmanned drone, apache AH64 and all that other crap Israel has, a LOT less deaths would be seen in the conflict. Israel would just not be able to do what they are continuously doing now. They would be drinking tea and coffee together trying to work out a peaceful solution.

QUOTEThey would be drinking tea and coffee together trying to work out a peaceful solution.

Which ironically is what Israel was doing with the REAL Lebanese govt before Hezbollah attacked.

THIS is what we know,.. NOT A DAMN PERSON OR ENTITY BUT HEZBOLLAH is to blame for israel launching attacks into Lebanon.

No-one stepped up and made Hezbollah surrender, no-one initiated a mediation between them. Israel had to act immediately, as they were hit with rocket fire immediately.

the solution is not to arm hezbollah with the same gear,.. look what they did with some UN uniforms and crappy rockets. Arm them better and they will not hesitate to attack Israel again with what ever they have.

what i am saying is we have all but forgotten to need to disarm hezbollah.

QUOTEIsrael would just not be able to do what they are continuously doing now.

true: they would all be dead. If Hezbollah would have unfettered access to an arsenal the size of Israel's, they would not hesitate to obliterate Israel, and they didn't give a single warning to anyone before they attacked, unlike Israel who did make an effort, albeit that is a difficult task, especially in a situation where the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing because the Israeli prime minister had no military experience, and did a piss-por job of coordinating the efforts of IDF.
