Most Interesting Historical 'What If'

A school of music that studies the rhythm of nature, a school of fashion that studies the elegance of the Universe, a school of design that studies the architecture of the ancients, a school of philosophy that studies the time-tested Truth.

Came across this topic and thought it was wildly interesting...

It's so hard to spite the transgression of time for me...Like our thread on the time continuum, one would be lead to believe that things are unavoidable...You change something, it will happen differently, but still happen...

Even on a personal level, I haven't had such a life where I definitely would do something different...I would, if I knew it was the last time I was going to see someone, maybe get they Moma's address or something so I could maybe keep it touch, but that's about it...

In MAJOR history...I think the most interesting thing would be what would have happened if President Kennedy had refused to take the alternate route that day in Dallas, or if the fence shooter missed his target...That was a pivotal time in American history for sure, so much was going on in the 60's...

Any thoughts..?

I'd think about the ancient greeks not bringing the concepts of democracy and law, about the council of nicea never having been held (or if the bible as we know it would not have been the "only" reference to knowing "God"), about modern Israel never having been created or if gold would not have become valuable.

What if the Library at Alexandria hadnt burned (thanks Roman Legions) the millions and millions of manuscripts that might clear up or answer th e myriad of ancient civilixations questions

What if the Vatican was a real center of religion and not a whoring, political, business machine

What if the Attila the Hun hadnt died or we lost the Revolutionary War

WWI and II would've eventually been won without US intervention in either episode - but I wonder what the world order would be if we had taken and stuck to our isolationism, selling of just waepons and supplies and sideline cheerleading

Yea Buff...quit posting such big articles. Cut them down. Jeez...

Buff needs his own forum, lol...But if he can't have that, the least he can do is have his own thread, hahaha..

Oh man, the library at Alexandria was a good one...We've probably lost more history in that instance than we ever can know....That shit hurts my feelings now, and I had nothing to do with it...

What if any one of several different major religious founders had not been born?
Note that the butterfly effect says that once you make a small change it will continue on. So unless time streams in this discussion have some form of "inertia" once you introduce a change, very shortly the world would be full of different people.

What if the storm hadn't blown up and the Spanish Armada had not been destroyed?

What if the plans Benedict Arnold sold the British had not been found and West Point had fallen?

What if what's his name had succeeded in offing Ronald Reagan?

What if the stupid Senators had some sense and hadn't offed Julius Caesar?

What if Santorini had not exploded and destroyed the Minoan Civilization?
