Firstly, I had NEVER heard of what a seamonkey even was, prior to browsing around on Mozilla's organisation website (not its commercial one).

I've been thinking about downloading it (when I get my own comp), but I am not sure if it's stable enough etc.

Below is Mozilla's blurb on it.-

Web-browser, advanced e-mail and newsgroup client, IRC chat client, and HTML editing made simple -- all your Internet needs in one application. System RequirementsRelease Notes

The SeaMonkey Project
The SeaMonkey project is a community effort to deliver production-quality releases of code derived from the application formerly known as "Mozilla Application Suite". Whereas the main focus of the Mozilla Foundation is on Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Thunderbird, our group of dedicated volunteers works to ensure that you can have "everything but the kitchen sink" ” and have it stable enough for corporate use.

SeaMonkey 1.1.1 and 1.0.8 Security Releases

Following the Gecko security update releases a few days ago, the SeaMonkey project issued new security and stability releases today for its all-in-one internet application suite. SeaMonkey 1.1.1 is now available for download, fixing several security vulnerabilities as well as a list of problems users of SeaMonkey 1.1 reported to developers. See the release notes for a complete list of changes.
Additionally, the project also released SeaMonkey 1.0.8, which fixes the security vulnerabilites listed above also for the SeaMonkey 1.0 series, without adding the new features available in 1.1 and later versions.

The Product: SeaMonkey Suite

Navigator
Tabbed browsing gives you a better way to surf the net. You no longer have to open one page at a time. With tabbed browsing, open several pages at once with one click. Plus, your homepage can be multiple pages, in tabs.

Popup blocker lets you surf the web without interruption from annoying ads.

Image Manager lets you block images to remove offensive images or speed up the rendering of web sites.

Find as you type gives you another way to navigate a page. Just start typing to jump from link to link or to find a word or phrase within a page.

Plus all the features a modern browser should have including: Advanced security settings; Password, Download, and Cookie managers; Themes; multi-language and multi-platform support; and, the latest in Web Standards.

Mail & Newsgroups
Junk mail controls helps you take back control of your e-mail from spammers. SeaMonkey's adaptive junk mail control gets smarter with use and is personalized to the e-mail that you receive.

Manage your mail with customizable Labels and Mail Views. Color code your e-mail to help you prioritize. Sort your mail with views to help you through your e-mail much faster.

Multiple Accounts support helps you manage all your mail through one interface.

SeaMonkey Messenger includes Enterprise ready features such as S/MIME, return receipts, Address Books, LDAP support, and digital signing.

Composer
SeaMonkey's powerful yet simple HTML editor keeps getting better with dynamic image and table resizing, quick insert and delete of table cells, improved CSS support, and support for positioned layers. For all your documents and website projects, Composer is all you need.

Would this suit me, or anyone apart from developers? I would like to have a nice bundle of things, like the composer to fix up forum web pages that I've saved for later reading, and read email from multiple accounts, etc. Would the Navigator be up to par with Firefox?

Right this is basically Mozilla (not Firefox, think Netscape 6.0-7.x+), before they focused on working on Firefox.

I've actually been switching between Opera and Firefox lately, I'm in transition as it were.

Opera; they tout themselves as having the best security (which according to Secunia they're right at least as of this writing right now) and having the best formatting layout (which according to the Acid2 Test again they're right). I like it so far since it has most of the same features that Firefox has and mouse gestures already built in. It's not as "plug-in friendly" as Firefox so there was a fair amount of customization that I had to do to get Opera to look just right for me.

All that being said, give it a try. Everyone...honestly.

BTW I don't believe that SeaMonkey is Mozilla Foundation per se they're affiliated but not the same body.

I used Opera before switching to FF. It was a good browser and did the job a hell of a lot better than IE. But then again what isn't better than IE.

Super happy with FF though and haven't looked back since I switched...

I mean honestly...

How many more testimonials like Dizzle's do we have to read..? Dizzle was on Opera...Got him to try FF...And man, there's just no fucking looking back..! The only excuse you have to not run Firefox is if you have a punk ass system...

Man, I can't tell you the number of times, I get emails w/peeps complaining of issues...Right away, I ask the browser, and its ALWAYS something other than FF...I fail to see why another browser is necessary when Firefox just does everything, including run IE only sites...

Damn I got a hardon right now...
