Contact Lenses

#1

Post by happywonton »

Hey there everyone. I recently got my eyes checked and decided to switch on over to contacts. I wanted something in which I can see in any direction without it being blurry and wanted something that didn't irritate my nose. Now that I have them, my eyes have been bothering me. I heard that they'll need some time to get used to but I was wondering what brand you guys recommend. The doc said I have astigmatism and wondered if that made any difference. Right now, a coworker recommended Acuvue 2. So far, they don't feel as bad as they did the first day but they do seem pretty hard.

I am now wearing a lens that is expensive, but it has the highest oxygen rating of any contact available...They are more expensive, but you can wear them for a month without having to take them in and out, and if you take them out every now and then, you can probably wear them longer...They are about $60 a box, but they're well worth it in my opinion, best lens I ever owned and I have been wearing contacts since middle school...

The name forgoes me at the moment, but if you go to any eye doctor to order them, when you mention 'Night and Day' lens, they should think of these...When I get home I'll look at the box and tell you for sure...

But if you're new to them, I honestly suggest taking them out and putting them in every day for a little while to give your eyes time to adjust and breathe...But after maybe a week or two, you'll probably never want to take them out...

If you have astigmatism (like I do) Accuvue II is about the only brand available. You will get used to them, it just takes a while. When I got mine 30 years ago, they didn't have any for astigmatism, so they were less than perfect. Now, it's like perfection!

hmm, I had contact lenses back before my lasik operation a couple of years ago :)

I suggest you check the percentage of water. The more water the less you will feel them. And avoid contact lenses that last long time (like a year or so). I would recommend the ones that last one month.

A co-worker suggested Acuvue II but I also heard that hydroclear worked well too. The pair that the optometrist gave me works good but about every other blink, everything becomes blurred, and the blink afterwards corrects it. I'm not sure if that's due to my astigmatism, but that does happen. I have a few days before my check-up so I should be getting my prescription then.

OK, the contacts that I have are called 'Night & Day'...They are made by 'Ciba Vision', and come in a little orange and blue box...When I got my eyes checked this February, they had the highest oxygen rating of any contact lens available at the time...They are meant to be worn for a month straight, I wear mine longer than that, but take them out every few weeks...I have a negative 5.8 prescription w/the astigmatism, so...

mine is negative 4 point something. Anyway thanks for the responses guys I'll look into those after I do my checkup. Overall I think I like glasses better mainly because I can take them off and nap. Anyway I was wondering, is it possible to keep your contacts in and swim? With or Without goggles?

Hmm, now that I can't tell you, I've never liked swimming w/o goggles...I guess you can test it out in the shower or something, lol...

well, i got pinkeye. :x time to stay at home because im basically a walking infection. the fucked up part is that i think its due to the solution the eye doc gave me. also, i've only heard of people getting it in one eye, never two. well, i have it in both because i was the dumbass that rubbed both eyes yesterday after work. way to go!
