Now, I would LOVE to hear someone say something about how this is justified:
Al Qaeda use two Down's syndrome women to blow up 99 people in Baghdad markets
Last updated at 11:43am on 3rd February 2008
These two women were detonated by remote in markets where they were regularly seen on a busy market day... that is low. They didn't attack us; they attacked the morale of Iraq by targeting Iraqi civilians, and not just using willing women, but using the mentally infirm to remotely deliver the deathblow. The ranks must getting thin for the "willing to die in the blast" crowd.
A new low for terrorists in Iraq!

Re: A new low for terrorists in Iraq!
I would think that strapping explosives to mentally impaired women and remote detonating them in a crowded marketplace would unite the people against them in a pretty big way. Very good observation about the decrease in willing suicide bombers this horrific act implies. Are they having trouble recruiting new members? Or just those willing to kill themselves in an attack? If it's the latter, does this signify a more egalitarian organizational structure, without clear leadership that simply orders the lowest member to carry out the attack or else?raum wrote:They didn't attack us; they attacked the morale of Iraq by targeting Iraqi civilians, and not just using willing women, but using the mentally infirm to remotely deliver the deathblow. Bastilles76,
In anyplace but the Middle East would using these 2 women be cause for a public cry of outrage. In Iraq, and in the Middle East as a whole (though some exceptions are likely found) it indicates to things:
1. The stability we are fighting for is not complete, and likely never will be.
2. They can still outsmart us.
In most of the eyes of the people there, this is still a win... just a lousy win.
The general Middle Eastern view of the need for fairness is it is a sign of weakness easily manipulated.

it's blatantly clear at this point that's it's truly a case of By Any Means Necessary for these people. however fucked up and tragic that may be.

Re: A new low for terrorists in Iraq!
i think they are once more trying to influence troops to start searching women. That would be the ultimate upset for most Iraqi.
As it is, they have sent women with dummy grenades and explosive vest at US soldiers hoping we would shoot them down. That way, people see soldiers killing women.
Which leaves an important question; How can we ally with countries that would not just inherit but would set up societies with different judicial treatment of men and women? I know they need cultural differences to be respected..
But how would you feel getting on a plane where only the men were searched? How would you feel in the search line?

I mean really...
REALLY...
Everytime I read stuff like this man...I'm torn to think whether or not this war was a good or a bad thing, and I guess depending on the headline, you'd be inclined to think one way or the other...Simply horrible...
