Does Lord God have a plan for us..?

This question is a spinoff from Deeje's wildly popular thread...I thought it would be interesting to explore this question, as the possibilities are endless...You could say yes and no, argue for, and against both sides...

yes i believe that God does have a plan for us. i believe that we works through us to accomplish his will in this world.
"If there were no eternal consciousness in a man, if at the bottom of everything there were only a wild ferment, a power that twisting in dark passions produced everything great or inconsequential; if an unfathomable insatiable emptiness lay hid beneath everything, what would life be but despair?"

But if that were true, then we would have to be totally ignorant of this plan, right..? Like you mentioned in the thead from which this came, you could decide that you don't want to be a part of God's plan, in fact, you want to side with "The Other" and do his bidding...

If God had a plan, would that be possible..? And how does free will fit into the equation, if we are merely pieces on a dieatrical (yes, I just pulled that word out of my ass..!) chessboard..?

why wouldn't we want to be part of God's plan? that would be the best thing ever- to know that you are being used by God. by being part of his plan you do do his bidding.

the free will part is what really gets me. i believe that God gave us the perception of free will so it would strengthen our faith. that's the only way i can put it into words right now. i'll think about it and post later on why i believe that

I believe he does have a plan.. I believe Satan has a plan for us too.. But the plan does not control us. The plan is more of a guide, it shows us the ways of life (Through the Bible) and we can either follow or not but the opportunity is always there...

that's a very good point about satan. i also believe that.

"but the plan does not control us."

in a way i also believe that. i don't believe that God makes us do anything because that wouldn't be a loving God, but i believe that He knows what we are going to do and allows it. most ppl believe that making and allowing is the same thing here. i don't believe that it is.

Whom the bible refers to as Satan, however, isn't what the bible makes him out to be...That whole "nemesis of God" thing has no merit, pretty much...And the bible paints a very contorted picture of Satan...

The very meaning of the word, Satan, is probably more misinterpretation than anything...

Furthermore, the picture that the bible paints, leaves us with several faces of God...Yeah, he is nice and sweet, but damn, he can hold a grudge on your ass, fa sho...Its like yeah, you can fuck up if you want, and you'll spend ETERNITY paying for that shit...

I'd like to leave the bible out of it, for all intensive purposes...It is just too contradictory...I believe everyone here that contributes to these forums is capable of thinking like a God...So, lets try that...

I don't think that God knows what we are going to do at all...I think that perspective defeats the purpose...We would have no reason to exist in his eyes other than sheer amusement...Like watching a movie that you've already seen and going, "Oh man, this part is great...Watch what he does..!

QUOTE i believe that He knows what we are going to do and allows it.

My idea of God is that he knows what will happen either way...For instance, if we came to a stop sign, I believe that God knows what will happen, should we turn left, go right, or keep straight...But the actual choice I believe is a mystery to him...In many texts, the bible included, this is shown to be what makes humans unique and somewhat superior to all other species...

Even more so worth mentioning, is the fact that I don't think this is the existence meant for us, if based on nothing but the sheer awe of the things the human being is capable. of...

God's plan is for us to be a nutritious high-protein food for dinosaurs. We were supposed to have wings but eventually that wouldn't have mattered. I don't know the full reason.

Why?

I got this idea from a cartoon I read stuck up on someone's office door. But it was ages ago and I can't remember it all.

I think god doesnt know what we are going to do..

Hes the scientist, and we are the lab rats so to speak..

He plays game with us and puts us in certain situations and see's how we will react.. And his plan for us is for us to be able to reach, I dont know, some sort of high expectation.. And he experiments, he creates killers, and then he succeeds in making "good" people.. I dont know.. This is just what came to me.. So I thought I would say it.
