Obama Infomercial Seen By at least 33.55 Million Viewers

Post by AYHJA »

An infomercial on behalf of Mr. Obama was a smashing ratings success on Wednesday night, proving to be more popular than even the final game of the World Series — and last season’s finale of “American Idol.” The audience for Mr. Obama’s program far exceeded the expectations of television executives — and many political pundits who questioned whether Mr. Obama was engaging in overkill in buying a half hour on so many networks.

Mr. Obama’s 30-minute commercial, which played on seven networks, broadcast and cable, was seen by 33.55 million viewers, according to figures released by Nielsen Media Research. On the three broadcast networks that carried the special, the audience totaled more than 25 million, easily surpassing the number for the last World Series game on Fox, which averaged 19.8 million viewers. The special was also available on Univision, and three cable networks, MSNBC, BET and TV One.

“I was shocked by the number Obama was able to draw,” said Leslie Moonves, the chairman of CBS. “It’s just a stunning number.”

On CBS, the infomercial was seen by about 8.6 million viewers, a number that topped the show CBS usually runs on Wednesday night at 8, “Old Christine,” which averages about 7.2 million.

On NBC, the disparity was even greater. Its regular show there, “Knight Rider,” has been averaging just under 7 million viewers. Mr. Obama pulled in 9.8 million for his half-hour special.

MSNBC, where the Obama campaign bought the half hour at the last minute because ABC decided to stick with its hourlong show, “Pushing Daisies,” improved by more than 50 percent over usual audience totals.

it also aired on more channels. and it was crap.

not one solution to one problem but tax and spend.

If your vote can be bought with a commercial... an infomercial, no less.

"Democracy can be yours, in four yearly installments of other people's money! Now with stretch pay flexible obligations!" what a friggin loon.

OMG a hatorade joke! Damn, is this the '90s. ZING, you got me!

Do you actually think this means everyone who watched it was impressed? i don't know anyone. In fact, in Pennsylvania, his enthusiasm dies after that. Like even lawn signs changed. He did not pull this off. Not like he needed to.

I personally think if you add up the average viewership of those shows or even those channels, you come out about the same. and not everyone who watches something agrees with it.

He should have done this:

"American Problems, American Solutions"

*People in chicago, things he did to make their lives better.*

Proof it would work on larger scale.

Rally.

Instead he did not show one solution that EVER helped anyone. NO-ONE in his district, community service past, senatorial constituiency that he ever actually helped.

Not one person from his record of note... from any point in his past that was like "Damn, he did that!" or "Woah, he was part of that project." or even "Look how many people he helped..." No measurable result from anything he ever did. He put his decision to run for POTUS in after 143 days in congress. Shit, McDonalds requires a franchisee to go through more hours of training that hours he sat in congress before deciding to run!

current endorsements and plans for future that his faithful can not quantify against financial skepticism are not enough for him to get my vote. and neither is a informercial. What have you ever bought from an infomercial you didn't regret later?

I see no confidence, no preparation, no contingency, and no accomplishments of any past projects but getting promoted with a quickness.

Who said anything about being impressed..? Shit, actually, the only person that offered any kind of optional information was you...And in typical fashion, it was negative...Face it man, you're a hater...It's not a bad thing..! Hating just has gotten a bad rap...I hate on some shit too...When I see a dude riding cleaner than me for example, I say, ''Man fuck him..! That gas guzzling ass Dodge Ram on 22's blows..! He'll never go to the pump and spend less than $70, so nahhhh..!!'' So yeah, hating is cool...Just...Admit it..! You don't have to validate your hate, if you say its hate...And you know its hate, because...You can't prove it to any reasonable degree...For example...

Bro...That's a hate statement..! You don't know a fraction of the fraction of people said to be watching this...If you know and talked to or observed 3,000 people since Wednesday that feel the same way you do, that....Don't mean nothing..! In fact, a recent Pennsylvania poll taken as late as Tuesday has Obama ahead, 47%-43%...But, polls aren't reliable, right..? They only poll certain people, and those people are more liberal in certain areas, and in those areas there are a ton of people with socialist ideas, and they all work in shady ACORN offices, and on top of that they have radical ties which would slant them towards Obama...Right..? Riiiiiight...

Fuck it man..! Just say you hate Barak and be done with it...Say it loud, ''I hate and I'm proud..!''

Um, no i don't hate him,.. and I surely don't envy him. I question him. I in fact would like to meet him, and ask him about some things, honestly about his achievements. And not some "you know ayers" crap... i know he does, but everyone has some associations they may not be proud of. it is important to what degree they share views about the slow transition of our country through socialism. i know he was a member of a political party who had a socialist agenda. i know he has a bit more self-interest and intellectual ability than to completely adopt any one person's plan. he wants his own. I CLEARLY stated before his bio says he hung out with socialists and marxists... his life associations speaks to his belief he can know or work with people that he doesn't completely agree with. My beliefs are not paranoid. My worry is the only thing I have seen of his politics is the "prime-time hype" news bullshit. That is so inconsequential it is hardly worth mention. What i want to hear is the OTHER stuff past the hype.

Until then, the hypno-ray might work on other people... but this was my critisism of his infomercial... not him. My statement about his signs coming down is just to me proof - his last chance to appeal to us who question his ability to achieve anything but a promotion is past and gone.

if i am to be impressed with his education, instead of his record of successful projects, let me read his thesis. or see his criterium for his students.

What questions about Obama would you like to know, that you know about McCain..?

One could argue we already have the shitty sides of socialism right now, and none of the positives...You speak of socialists and marxists like they raw dog in whorehouses and spread cooties...Every 'ist' or 'ism' has its plus and minus'...And while I won't say I agree with socialism, it is duly noted we are borrowing a shitload of money from such a country...Whatever we're doing right now, whatever 'ism' we call ourselves, that shit isn't working...
Albert Einstein wrote:Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
You want to read Obama's thesis...Cool...But damn Bro, are you aware that neither McCain nor Palin has a thesis for you to read..? McCain was a dumbass in school...I doubt anyone in this forum has finished near the bottom of anything...Dude was almost dead last in his class..! Palin...Well...Those grades...Lets just say, I'll find 'em and bring 'em to ya...
raum wrote:his last chance to appeal to us who question his ability to achieve anything but a promotion is past and gone
I lack the vocabulary and reason and intelligence to communicate the anti-idea to that...There are just some things, no matter what you go through, that just won't quite click...I can only say...Obama's 'promotions' are unprecedented, and that alone should give you some inclination as to how hard they are to achieve and what it takes to achieve them...

I am frankly surprised that you seem to me at least, overly critical of Obama...I would think he'd have more to offer you than McCain...Like I said before, I just hope that you vote for Obama and then grill him every step of the way, and just start a new 'I told you so' thread every day....

All this 'experimenting with socialism' hoo-ha is McCain's folks taking shit outta context from Obama's first encounter with Joe I'm Not Actually A Plumber. America's tax system is a progressive one. A system which the GOP has happily supported since the 1860s. A progressive tax system which can accomodate Barack's tax plan.
