Windows Registry Maintenance

Post by 5829 »

Tried out both of these on my PC (XP) and it appears to be running a bit faster and no problems so far. Both for free.

comodo registry cleaner

registry compactor

Try that program in the software section called TuneUp Utilities 2008...That should provide a bevy of Windows tools that you'll find useful, including a registry cleaner and compacter...

Good article about registry cleaners: http://www.edbott.com/weblog/?p=643

I honestly would never use them myself. Never go into the registry unless something is seriously wrong with your computer, like you cannot load into Windows, etc.

When I used to screw around with these things this one caused the least grief....

Nowadays I just manually clean up obvious stuff and let CCleaner nuke things I recognize.
