i'm not using windows anymore, i've used avg (till version 8) and i agree it would be fine, but as any of the free others solutions gives you a fake feeling of shureness, if you install any of those and after a month you scan your pc with other you will detect (in particular) a lot of spam and plenty of malware not filtered. i dont know if this is made on purpose for the companies so you purchase the full license but be aware of that.

Thanks for the feedback. The Comodo anti-virus is a new product for them. But they are supposed to have a good rep, at least for their firewall. So I was wondering how their AV would be.

I'll install AVG on this one and leave the Windows Firewall up. Just don't want to spend the money on this one.

I have NOD32 installed on another PC and I like it. Have you tried their new Security Package yet? I was wondering how it was.

Haven't tried the Smart Security package, just use the AV, I'm a little leery of these all in one solutions, one tends to lose control of things and I'll bet it has a far larger footprint, the AV's so darn light on resources!

I tried AVG free 8 but found it to be woefully slow - ie it increased bootup time and slowed down the computer significantly. Going back to AVG free 7.5 helped.

I'm a bit concerned about the direction AVG free is heading if version 8 will be required in a month or two's time. I'll probably investigate Avast when AVG free 7.5 is no longer supported by AVG.

I use xp sp3 32bit - mainly for gaming and 3D work. Otherwise for everything else I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 - it doesn't require an antivirus :)
