Re: 2008-09 NCAA Football Bowl Season Pick 'Em
I'm not great at this... but here are my pics (in bold) .... some of these are a crap shoot....
12/20: Las Vegas — No. 17 BYU vs. Arizona
12/20: St. Petersburg — Memphis vs. South Florida
12/20: New Mexico — Colorado State vs. Fresno State
12/20: EagleBank — Navy vs. Wake Forest
12/21: New Orleans — Southern Miss vs. Troy
12/23: Poinsettia — No. 9 Boise State vs. No. 11 TCU
12/24: Hawaii — Notre Dame at Hawaii
12/26: Motor City — Central Michigan vs. Florida Atlantic
12/27: Emerald — California vs. Miami
12/27: Champs Sports — Florida State vs. Wisconsin
12/27: Meineke Car Care — North Carolina vs. West Virginia
12/28: Independence — Louisiana Tech vs. Northern Illinois
12/29: Alamo — No. 22 Northwestern vs. No. 25 Missouri
12/29: PapaJohns.com — North Carolina State vs. Rutgers
12/30: Holiday — No. 13 Oklahoma State vs. No. 15 Oregon
12/30: Texas — Rice vs. Western Michigan
12/30: Humanitarian — Maryland vs. Nevada
12/31: Chick-fil-A — No. 14 Georgia Tech vs. LSU
12/31: Insight — Kansas vs. Minnesota
12/31: Music City — Boston College vs. Vanderbilt
12/31: Sun — No. 18 Pittsburgh vs. No. 24 Oregon State
12/31: Armed Forces — Air Force vs. Houston
1/1: Cotton — No. 8 Texas Tech vs. Mississippi
1/1: Capital One — No. 16 Georgia vs. No. 19 Michigan State
1/1: Gator — Clemson vs. Nebraska
1/1: Outback — Iowa vs. South Carolina
1/2: Liberty — East Carolina vs. Kentucky
1/3: International — Buffalo vs. Connecticut
1/6: GMAC — No. 23 Ball State vs. Tulsa
BCS Bowl Games.....
Orange Bowl — No. 12 Cincinnati vs. No. 21 Virginia Tech
Defensive battle..... Leaves Cincinnati up by a field goal...
Cincinnati 17 - Virginia Tech 14
Rose Bowl — No. 5 USC vs. No. 6 Penn State
USC's kicker is going to bounce back and lift them to a 2 field goal margin of victory...
USC 30 - Penn State 24
Sugar Bowl — No. 4 Alabama vs. No. 7 Utah
My head tells me Alabama... but I'm going to go with my heart that tells me the Utes will be fired up by Saban's comments that the Utes are not a “real BCS” team... Utes by a field goal...and a miracle...
Utah 34 - Alabama 31
Fiesta Bowl - No. 3 Texas vs. No. 10 Ohio State
Both my heart and my head tell me McCoy and his longhorn team mates have something to prove... I almost feel sorry for Ohio State.
Texas 45, Ohio State 17
Championship — No. 1 Florida vs. No. 2 Oklahoma
I must admit I'm torn... like Ayhja, I'm a longhorn fan... so I have a hard time ever pulling for Oklahoma... so my heart and head say it depends. If Texas pulls off a big win and Oklahoma barely escapes with a small victory, the Longhorns could conceivably share a piece of the title by way of the AP poll....
Oklahoma 41 - Florida 37 (but I'll reverse that and pull for the gators if the Fiesta bowl is close... I'm just sayin'.... )
12/20: Las Vegas — No. 17 BYU vs. Arizona

34 fucking meaningless Bowl Games!!! Enough already!!!

That's just an excuse to weasel out of making any pics.... (not that I disagree... I'm all for a play-off system. or at least a tie breaker system in the big 12 that makes sense....)

Great idea Ty. I'll get my picks in tomorrow

Re: 2008-09 NCAA Football Bowl Season Pick 'Em
I'm gonna do mine a few days before, see if I can do better than I did in my fantasy shit, lol...Here's what I got for this day...
20 December 2008
EagleBank Bowl
Wake Forest (7-5) vs. Navy (8-4)
In a rematch of a season game which Navy won, I'm picking Wake here...I'd have to say that the first game was uncharacteristic of Wake, which usually plays pretty disciplined (enough to beat Ole Miss) turned the ball over a ton against Navy...Look for them to rebound here and play well...
Las Vegas Bowl
BYU (10-2) vs. Arizona (7-5)
BYU has 2 losses this season, both to ranked teams, and the game to Utah could have easily been won...They had one close game to Colorado State, other than that, nobody else had a chance...UCLA faced both teams, back to back... Arizona won 31-10...BYU won 59-0 the week before...
St. Petersburg Bowl
Memphis (6-6) vs. South Florida (7-5)
Memphis has a football program..? Shit, I didn't know...
New Mexico Bowl
Colorado State (6-6) vs. Fresno State (7-5)
This one seems like it has the possibility to be one of those really good games, or one that really, really sucks...Colorado St. seems to have a slightly better offense, and a reason to win this game, as a loss would put them under .500...

Re: 2008-09 NCAA Football Bowl Season Pick 'Em
Alright, here are my picks for Saturday:
Eaglebank Bowl
Wake Forest (7-5) vs Navy (8-4)
Navy does have the best rushing team in the nation, but WF's defense is stingy and will do great. These 2 teams did meet earlier in the year with Navy winning, but I don't see them picking off Skinner 4 times again. WF wins the rematch
New Mexico Bowl
Fresno State (7-5) vs Colorado State (6-6)
I know Fresno State struggled towards the latter part of the year, but I think the time off will do them some good. They have a good return team, and CSU struggles with special teams. This game ultimately comes down to the special teams play
St. Petersburg Bowl
Memphis (6-6) vs South Florida (7-5)
2 words: Matt Grothe
Las Vegas Bowl
BYU (10-2) vs Arizona (7-5)
Sorry, I just don't see Arizona being able to stand up to beat BYU's high-powered offense

Re: 2008-09 NCAA Football Bowl Season Pick 'Em
Fuck, I had a feeling BYU was going to get upset...Anywho...
New Orleans Bowl
Southern Miss (6-6) vs. Troy (8-4)
No fancy predictions here, I just think that Troy has had the better team and better season thus far...I think they all realize that if not for a 2nd half choke, they would have toppled LSU and heading for a 10 win season right now...USM fired one of the best coaches a club could ask for, and they're feeling the effects I'm sure...
Updated the prediction standings... :)
