Raum and the glass onion

Post by raum »

So, it turns out a friend of mine is a indy horror director, and he is making a VERY amibitious zombie flick called "Drop Dead Twice" in the area. I get to play the preacher in town when it gets hit. Josh Petrino is a very talented guy, and worth supporting, and his idea is campy, gruesome, better yet- he has got some kind of momentum to get stuff done. We even got effects graduates from Tom Sevini's school and about 1/3 of the budget of Clerks (over 10k as of now, with more on the way). Permits in NJ are a bitch, but worth it. Filming resumes April 25, and he still is looking for extras. It is his first film, ambitious for a first film, and he is hitting hurdles but getting over them in a way he has gotten some recognition from people like George A Romero.

The general idea is a Jersey town was run by local kids greasers in the 50's. An outside gang killed them in a rumble by fighting dirty, and many of those people grew up and became good members of the town. Flash to the future where the greasers killed in the 50 come back from the grave, and try to exact vengence and reclaim their turf from modern gangs!

The image you might have is Sean of the Dead meets The Outsiders.... stick with that, and add some camp, indy humour, and an awesome cast and crew!

BTW-

If you are at Philly this weekend, Josh is opening for Judah Friedlander (from 30 Rock) in his standup debut. What a first gig, huh? Also if you were at Horror Hound in Indianapolis this last weekend, he was the person who pulled Corey Haim and G-Tom (Cry Little Sister singer from Lost Boys) into an impromptu jam session. He also got a strong eye for talent; I mean - hey! - he picked me.

As for my "debut" he is drawing together a short to show some potential investors, in which I play a doctor and get to reattach a finger. We have a actual doctor and surgeon to train me how (to REATTACH LIMBS!!!) and I get use of a full operating facility to do surgery on expertly crafted prosthetics. This is supposed to show WHO he has, the VISION he has, and the TALENT his cast has. Most of the people in it are major cast of Drop Dead Twice.

He also gave me media writing software, which is his way of saying "GET THEE TO FILM!!!"

Looks like I might be seeing a bit of indy horror in my life; How is your year going?

That is the site for Josh Petrino's movie.

Heinrich Couto from "Two is a crowd" semi-fame on the internet sitcom-ish shorts is assistant director. he is hilarious!

My year so far is going up as smoothly as a rectal probe unloobed. How's that as a tie in to horror? But I do have high hopes for a short life!

Funny this thread kicked up right now. Because the crew is assembling for the next production cycle of filming.
