Microsoft Office 14 codename has been officially named as Microsoft Office 2010. Microsoft Office 2010 will be the first release of Office series of productivity suite that will be shipping in 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x64) version, when it’s due for retail consumers in the first half of 2010.

Prior to RTM release, Microsoft is opening up opportunity for everyone and anyone (but must be registered to be invited) to experience pre-release versions of Office 2010 in addition to view Office 2010 screenshots, which in common term should be Office 2010 Beta. The Office 2010 Beta 1 is expected to be released in early July, and Beta 2, if available, in early November.

The beta program for Office 2010 is called Microsoft Office 2010 Technical Preview. However, it’s not a public beta. Instead, it is a limited, invitation only program which will provide you with the opportunity to experience early, pre-release versions of Office 2010 which will include the following applications: Word 2010, Excel 2010, Outlook 2010, PowerPoint 2010, OneNote 2010, Access 2010, InfoPath 2010 and Publisher 2010. Exchange Server 2010 Beta has been released for free download.

Microsoft is expected to roll out a slim down, browser-run web application version of Office 2010, together with a free ad-supported version, however, it’s unclear if they are available from the Community Technical Preview (CTP) program.
