Why didn't Jesus write anything? Or did he?
Jeshua could have penned some thoughts, eh?
I read an occultist using this as proof God is a concept...

They say seeing is believing...
but belief without seeing = faith
I'm sure he wanted us to have faith....

Plato didn't pen anything himself either. Who cares. We still have their words from reliable sources
"If there were no eternal consciousness in a man, if at the bottom of everything there were only a wild ferment, a power that twisting in dark passions produced everything great or inconsequential; if an unfathomable insatiable emptiness lay hid beneath everything, what would life be but despair?"

Ya know, if you loved the world and were coming to save it, I don't think you would be playing games like that. The written word would not negate a need for faith, anyway.st4lk3r b0y wrote:

Socrates didn't write anything either, and ironically enough some think that he was just a literary tool used by Plato. And reliable sources? Nah. Most parts of the Book must be accepted on faith rather than rationality since they've been flirtin' with the whole "Lost in Translation" problem for so long.trashtalkr wrote:Plato didn't pen anything himself either. But here is the point. You have a message for the salvation of humanity. Wouldn't it make sense to write it down? We saw what happened last time God trusted humanity so greatly, enter Adam, Eve, so why not at least jot something down? It would still require faith to accept, but that way we could at least know Jeshua's words from one truer degree...
I think Christ was deliberate not to write anything to emphasize the importance of relationships over canon.

I'm still caught up on this.trashtalkr wrote:Plato didn't pen anything himself either. Who cares. We still have their words from reliable sources
Can you give me any number of criteria for "reliable sources" that the bible follows?
EDIT: I just reread and saw the "who cares" part..... First off, clearly the postmaker cares, because he's asking about it. Secondly...I think A LOT of people care about whether or not Jesus wrote anything, or why he did or didn't. Some people aren't willing to shrug it off and go with whatever they hear in Sunday school. Not that I'm trying to peg you as that type of person...but I feel like you're treating his perspective on the issue with no respect....and that seems silly when we're talking about religious doctrine. Essentially all we have are opinions.

Jeshua quoted the Old Testament, so unless Mother Mary read him to sleep each night, I'm guessing he could read...It is assumptive to say that he could probably write a lil because of that too, but I mean, he was Christ so I'll go out on a limb and offer he could write at least at an elementary level ha...But anyway, it doesn't even matter at all, because he could have written through a scribe, as was most common in those days and was probably the case with a lot of the NT writings...Kumicho wrote:You know me, the best answers are the simplest ones...

Damn Aem, I would think you would know better than to think I would mean some dumb shit like The Cristos himself was illiterate, lol...
Dude, I mean...The Cristos spoke Aramaic...Which is similar, but not Hebrew...Then you have, Greeks, Italians, Africans, and all other kinds of languages that were around during that time...My guess is that it would have been almost futile to write something, when writing was probably reserved for scholars and or people dedicated to the task...Translation as it is now is already problematic and highly speculative, so in a sense why bother...If only a small percent of the intended audience would even be able to read it anyway...If Jesus wrote or had something scribed, Quamram would have been the place to find it...
Also, it was infinitely greater to hear MLK's I Have A Dream speech than it was to read it...You lose a ton of meaning, depth, and energy when something is written...With what I feel is truth about Jesus and the way he did his business, to hear his voice would be like nothing you could experience...His writings would probably have been lost upon the masses...

Hahaha, I was being polite on the outside, and judging you on the inside..! I am glad we figured that out ;)
Hmm, interesting. Do you agree with my statement, that he deliberately didn't write anything to emphasize the importance of relationships? That the only truths that mean anything are those that bring individuals closer together? Or did he avoid the Mead Notebook just because it would be a lost cause..?
