saw the trailer, it made me cringe a little. it's hard to replace a classic like that to me. some movies should just stay in the 80's

I think this movie will actually be quite good. It looks mean especially with jackie chan in it as well.

Some things should never be re-made. We already know the outcome anyway.

The conflict is here:

1. The movie will be awesome. The story is specifically a great one, though be sure it will be revisioned. For one it takes place in China.

2. He is not doing Okinawan style Karate, or even a Japanese form. He is doing Kung Fu in Beijing. "Dre Parker" (DR. Dre and Spiderman references) is certainly not Daniel-san. I like the kid though, and his dad has mad props (mom too!) This is a movie about an entirely dfferent topic and value lessons.

3. I like all the talent in the movie, but it is such a damn loss of respect when people are SO full of ego that they seek to rely on the namesake of another movie. But, having not read the Original Screenplay, the classic flim version could very well have been far less accurate., For all we know, this will be more authentic. Still, I cringe at the sight of a remake in general now. People talk about Daniel-san and Miyagi quite abit, but few people speak of the director,.. who also did Rocky. Ralph Macchio is a DAMN AMAZING actor, and is top bar in that movie. His leanings to show aqn alternate "Italian Stallion" was REALLY on point. It was FANTASTIC from writing to directing. This movie has NOTHING to do with that Oscar Nominated Mastepiece, and in China and Japan is being released as the "Kung Fu Kid." It is clearly an HOMAGE to the Karate Kid, not a remake.

BUT let's call it what it is: It is Will Smith's way of getting Jackie Chan to teach his kid MArtial Arts and to get him his own Stardom... and trying to keep a positive tip on it; prolly what the lil dude asked for Christmas. I could try and be witty or be more bitter, but that would really just be my jealousy cause having a Dad powerful and rich enough who can make you the next Karate Kid is almost every kid's dream. And having those kinds of lessons of achievement and a dad as cool as Will Smith, who can and does back them up makes this kid richer than anyone I know.

I just hope it don't go to the little dude's head.
