Top 10 Comedies of All Time

#1

Post by AYHJA »

Realizing that there will be various tastes, I'm asking you to list your top 10 Comedies of all time...I've been watching The Hangover ever time it comes on and I can't believe I didn't think it was funny the first time I saw it...I guess its like some things just grow on you, and or you go in expecting a certain kind of humor so you have to go through a state of mind change to enjoy them...So, in no particular order, other than my own criteria, I think this is my 10...A really good comedy is one that I don't mind watching over and over, it never gets old and you laugh every time, know all the quotes, etc...

1. Coming to America
2. Friday + Friday After Next
3. Norbit
4. Harlem Knights
5. Which Way Is Up
6. Trading Places
7. Superbad
8. The Hangover
9. Stepbrothers (Almost any Will Ferrell movie can go here, Talladega Nights, Anchorman...)
10. Office Space

no specific order just more adds:

Brewster's Millions (St. Pryor at his best!)

Blazing Saddles (I don't want to live in the world until it is back to where this could be re-released and universally appreciated)

Young Frankenstein (homage to almost all black and white comedy - brilliant exectution)

National Lampoon's Vacation (I regard this as the first comedy I chose to see. I still love it.)

Caddyshack (DEAR GOD this is awesome!)

The Big Lebowski (beats the HELL out of The Hangover)

The Jerk (I still almost wet myself about something new EVERY time I see it.)

Sean of the Dead (CRITERION FOR ANY GENRE)

Ghostbusters (Actually, I would say Bill Murray in anything.)

Tropic Thunder (a collection of all the right stuff that comedy needs)

Speaking of Barbershop, which is really good call, Habib... Anyone check the Showtime Series - I watched the whole first season in one show. It was really good, at least to me. Good cast, too.

Thanks raum. I was a bit surprised nobody mentioned Barbershop really, perhaps it skipped you guys' mind. I will go and check out the showtime series.

Good thread! Tough topic cause everyone's comic sense is so different. I'd say the top three on my list made me who I am today.

1. Caddy Shack
2. Animal House
3. Airplane
4. Kingpin
5. The Big Lebowski
6. Batman and Robin
7. Beverly Hills Cop
8. Blazing Saddles
9. The Jerk
10. Young Frankenschteen

Yeah, its been so long since I've seen Lebowski, I can't remember how I felt about it...

I'm gonna download it and watch it again...It may refresh my memory and get on the list...And I've never seen Young Frankenschteen, have to get that one too...

I didn't think Barbershop was as hilarious as any of the Friday's, which is why I didn't put it on my list...Never seen Blazing Saddles either raumie, thanks for that one...

The first Friday was great. Didn't care for the follow ups. But most comedy sequels suck anyways.

^I agree. I actually thought the follow ups sucked and I found myself trying so hard to laugh.
