Injuries warn against 18 NFL games (woman's interpretation)

So anyone that watches NFL football might be aware of some of the injuries last Sunday. They are a part of the game, which is so fast and athletes must make split second decisions. But here's this woman's opinion:
Josh Cribbs lying motionless after Pittsburgh's James Harrison barreled into Cribbs' helmet in the second quarter -- even though it appeared Harrison's teammate LaMarr Woodley had Cribbs securely wrapped up. Later in the same quarter, Harrison also knocked Mohamed Massaquoi out of the game with a head injury.
She has obviously never played a single athletic sport her entire life. In football, especially with a player as good as Josh Cribbs, sometimes it takes more than one person to bring them down. I mean, I can remember some Barry Sanders runs where 11 people on defense couldn't even tackle him. So just because you see one of your fellow teammates attempting to tackle an opponent it doesn't mean that you let up and don't try to help make a play. That extra hit could cause a fumble of all things! Of course, if this know-it-all woman had a fucking clue then she wouldn't make such a retarded statement.

You've really picked some strange ways to vent your frustration with and hatred of the female gender...

Um, I don't hate the female gender.

I dislike that someone with ZERO experience in tackling a NFL athlete determining that Woodley had Cribbs "securely wrapped up".

In related news, James Harrison has been fined $75,000 and is now contemplating retirement. Good job, media. Another NFL star forced to retire early because of your fucked up opinion.

That reporter needs to go watch some of Ronnie Lott's hits. He destroyed people like this every single game. Nobody complained then.

Here's a bunch of actual NFL athletes pretty much agreeing with me: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5708850

Here's Josh Cribbs actually supporting the hit from James Harrison: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5714223

Proof that Jemele Hill is a clueless twit and shouldn't be doing any sports reporting at all.

CDR..!

I'm not a huge fan of the rule emphasis, but I don't think its totally bad...I just feel like there are several things that could come from this that could be bad for the game...There really is a watered down version of the NFL going on today...I watch the games to see great passing and guys getting ran over or hit hard...I can't say I care for guys letting up on plays, because at some point or another its going to get abused...If the the down and distance call for some immediate and rough sticking to go on, I don't want to see guys pulling up...

I like the way Harrison plays, I don't think that the hits were dirty...They were intended to do what they did, and there's not a player in the NFL that wouldn't want James on their team playing that way...

as far as I can see the rules are not media inspired but more the leagues idea.
its not a problem with all big hits but more to do with big hits to the head. they are associated with significant long term harm. nobody cared in the past because the problems weren't recognised, cf smoking.

its one thing to hit someone hard to bring them down, its another thing to hit someone hard IN THE HEAD because you want to put them out of the game/ put fear into them.

i think its a good idea to stop players giving each other brain damage. but the problem is how to introduce laws without ruining the game.
