This is great news as DivX switched to MKV for it's official container for HD. So you have a high end brand that supports playing MKV video files. I'm still amazed that the PS3 doesn't support MKV natively.DivX is a real feel-good story. Years back, we remember having to search high and low for video players that would recognize and work with DivX files. These days, it's a powerful format that has gained the respect of even major market players. Today, even Denon is coming around. The company has just revealed a new partnership with Sonic Solutions (who owns DivX) that will make Denon's players compatible with DivX Plus. DivX Plus HD video uses the MKV container, and throughout North America, Denon's lineup will be supporting it.
Key advanced DivX Plus HD features on the Denon player include support for as many as eight subtitle and audio tracks in a single movie file, smooth fast forward and rewind which makes it easy to navigate through a DivX Plus video, and auto chapter points, so users can skip between sections in a video when no chapters have previously been authored.
This even includes support for DivX files loaded on USB drives, and the DivX Plus HD Certification is the premium level of certification available from DivX. Is anyone still doubting that the future of video is digital distribution?
