QUOTE(Genesis 4:1 - 4:8)4:1 The man knew Havah his wife. She conceived, and gave birth to Cain, and said, †™ ¢‚¬„¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¢†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¡¢‚¬Å¡‚¬†™¢¢¬‚¦‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦¢‚¬Å“I have gotten a man with the LORD†™ ¢‚¬„¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¢†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¡¢‚¬Å¡‚¬†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¾¢‚¬Å¡‚¢s help.†™ ¢‚¬„¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¢†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¡¢‚¬Å¡‚¬?
4:2 Again she gave birth, to Cain†™ ¢‚¬„¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¢†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¡¢‚¬Å¡‚¬†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¾¢‚¬Å¡‚¢s brother Abel. Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
4:3 As time passed, it happened that Cain brought an offering to the LORD from the fruit of the ground.
4:4 Abel also brought some of the firstborn of his flock and of its fat. The LORD respected Abel and his offering,
4:5 but he didn†™ ¢‚¬„¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¢†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¡¢‚¬Å¡‚¬†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¾¢‚¬Å¡‚¢t respect Cain and his offering. Cain was very angry, and the expression on his face fell.
4:6 The LORD said to Cain, †™ ¢‚¬„¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¢†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¡¢‚¬Å¡‚¬†™¢¢¬‚¦‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦¢‚¬Å“Why are you angry? Why has the expression of your face fallen?
4:7 If you do well, will it not be lifted up? If you don†™ ¢‚¬„¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¢†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¡¢‚¬Å¡‚¬†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¾¢‚¬Å¡‚¢t do well, sin crouches at the door. Its desire is for you, but you are to rule over it.†™ ¢‚¬„¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¢†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¡¢‚¬Å¡‚¬?
4:8 Cain said to Abel, his brother, †™ ¢‚¬„¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¢†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¡¢‚¬Å¡‚¬†™¢¢¬‚¦‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦¢‚¬Å“Let†™ ¢‚¬„¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¢†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¡¢‚¬Å¡‚¬†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¾¢‚¬Å¡‚¢s go into the field.†™ ¢‚¬„¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¢†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¡¢‚¬Å¡‚¬? It happened when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel, his brother, and killed him.
It's very hard for me in general to discuss the bible and its happenings, because so much of what it discusses seemingly begs to not be taken literally...In the case of Cain and Abel, one must wonder...How do you all feel about the story of Cain and Abel, along with other stories of the bible..?

I believe that most of the stories in the Bible are true. I also believe that some stories like Job and Jonah are just stories and were written to make a point. I believe that the story of Cain and Abel is a true story though.

He never lived in Eden I don't think. Adam and Eve were banned from Eden before he was born I thought. I don't have my Bible with me right now to check, but I thought he was born after the Fall.

@ my post that got ate
IF you happened to think about it before regarding it as a joke it would have not been discarded..
Abel owning a 9 would symbolize the pursuit of intellectual advance being worth it, for he would have been under far greater protection because of his mind power..
Secondly, he would have pulled it out to show Cain that tho intellect should be pursued, it needs to be managed properly. Power exhorted mindfully equals wisdom, unmindfully equals tyranny. Although Abel could shoot Cain, he refrained, while gaining respect as well..
Kids jumpin' to conclusions...*shakes head slowly*
It could have been a lesson for everyone..
