Hell no?
Much to the average Christian's disbelief, there is no fire in hell. There isnt anything hot at all. Matter of fact, is there anything at all?
Eternal separation from God. Thats a big one, eh? But what exactly is hell? raum care to tackle this?

I agree with Deeje. Hell is lonliness and eternal seperation from God. The ultimate torment

How would you know...If you were seperated from God..? My instinct tells me that we are indeed seperated from God...The broad majority of us are...Wouldn't that make...Anywhere that God was not indisputably present, Hell..?

Well we're talking about the afterlife and that's different from this life. You know when you are with God so I guess you'd know when you aren't with God. Spending eternity outside of his presence would be torture.

Let's try parallel thinking for a minute...
If we are talking about the afterlife, in terms of heaven and hell, then what of conception..? Every thing that has and end, has a beginning, and vice versa...So, if heaven and hell were merely concepts of the afterlife...What are the concepts of life present and past..?
And my question as posed, was how would we know if we were in his presence..? Most of us cannot make that claim, that we were in his precense to begin with...That said, we are outside of it, if we can't confirm that we are in it, or no..?

For the record, Christians and Catholics are the only two religions that believe in the concept of a reward or a punishment in the afterlife. Hell was created to keep the masses in line.
The rest of the religions (Judaism, Buddism, etc) do not believe in a punishment for the afterlife. Jews believe you're either close to God or you're not. No demon will beat the shit outta you for eternity.
Satan was an angel to start out with. He was kinda like God's concious. He was permitted to question everything God did.

Hell was not "created" by man...I know we all like to jump on the "everything that has to do with religion is meant to control the masses" bandwagon but I am pretty sure that Jeshua, even if there may be some mistranslations here and there, spoke of an eternal judgment after death..
I mean, john 3:16 basically illuminates my perspective, im sure there are other verses..
