What was he thinking!?!?
LONDON - Some people bring flowers. But when Melvyn Reed's three wives showed up to visit him at the hospital, they brought the unexpected end to his years as a bigamist.
British police confirmed Thursday that after Melvyn Reed's marital affairs took a turn for a worse as he recovered from triple bypass surgery †™ ¢‚¬„¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¢†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¡¢‚¬Å¡‚¬†™‚¢‚¢¢¢¬…¡‚¬? all three of his spouses had turned up at the same time, despite his efforts to stagger their visits.
Media reports say that the wives quickly realized that they were all married to the same man.
The 59-year-old company director from Kettering in central England turned himself in May, telling police he was married to three women at the same time, and confessing to bigamy, illegal in Britain, London's Metropolitan Police said in a statement.
A spokeswoman for the Crown Prosecution Service said Reed was with his attorney when he turned himself in and confessed in Wimbledon, south London.
He pleaded guilty July 19 to two charges of bigamy and was given a four-month suspended sentence and ordered to pay $126 in costs, police said.
It wasn't immediately possible to reach Reed or his three wives. Reed's lawyer, Laurence Grant, also could not immediately be reached for comment.
The Metropolitan Police said Reed married his first wife, Jean Grafton, in 1966, then left her without divorcing her. He went on to marry Denise Harrington in 1998, then married Lyndsey Hutchinson in 2003.
The Metropolitan Police said Harrington and Hutchinson have since sought advice on getting their marriages annulled. But media reports say lawyers have advised the women that their marriages were never valid.

Of course, that's just the 'criminal' penalty. What do you think those ladies are going to do to this sucker's nads when they get a hold of him? He's going to wish he were in prison! LOL

LOL... OK, here's my sad, but true story. (short version)
First marriage - married during my last semester of college to a girl I had dated for 3 years. Went off to grad school, started my first job, had 2 kids. Things were good. Not great, but good. Then "BAM", after 19 years of marriage, I find out she's cheating on me with my best friend and co-worker. Tried to make it work for a while, but I couldn't trust her, his schedule and mine were off by one day, so I knew he was still banging her. Divorce #1, but still have amiable relationship with her and former friend. (go figure)
Second marriage - jumped into the fire out of the frying pan on this one. A rebound situation that I exacerbated by marrying the crazy bitch. She was certifiable. This one lasted a little less than 3 years. Ended because she kept accusing me of having affairs because I would come home late almost every night. Hell, I was a child abuse investigator. It's not a 9-5 type job. You get a case at 4:55, you go out on it and you investigate and interview until you can't do any more for that day, then you have to keep going back until you've interviewed all the principals in the case. Takes a while. So anyway, I come home one afternoon to find her in the bed with my pistol in her hand pointing to her head. I noticed she neither had a magazine in the thing nor the hammer pulled back (Browning Hi-Power 9mm, single action auto). I took it from her all the time she's crying saying she knows I'm having an affair and wants out of the marriage. I tell her "fine", file away. Divorce #2.
Third marriage (and last by God!!!) - after a wild couple of years in between (see some of my other posts in the other forum) I met this woman online and we hit it off right away. Granted, she's got some problems, but who doesn't? I'm sure she'd say the same about me. LOL We're pretty easy going folk who just want to get old together. She's got 2 grown kids who've given us 3 grandkids (with another on the way). Life is good.
As to why someone would want to be married to 3 women at the same time? I don't have a clue! One is hard enough to handle at any one time for me! Can you imagine having 3 women with PMS or menopause at the same time? I pity this fool, because those women are going to have him for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the civil courts. That is, if they don't all conspire together to Bobbit him.
