What is Atmosphere Saying?

A school of music that studies the rhythm of nature, a school of fashion that studies the elegance of the Universe, a school of design that studies the architecture of the ancients, a school of philosophy that studies the time-tested Truth.

What is Atmosphere Saying?

Post by Logic »

I used to know this woman who had the most beautiful
tattooes on the top sides of both of her hands
She was forty-three years old and as far as I know
had never yet been with a man
It's not that she wasn't attractive;
she was beautiful, but it was the way that she interacted
She was aggresively passive to the point where she
would've intimidated any mitt that ever tried to catch it
on the right hand she had a tattoo of a nude girl
she claimed it is what God resembled
but on the left she had a mirrored image of the same female
and this one she explained looked like the devil
I remember once watching her touch her own breasts
how the tattooes smiled as they stared down her stomach
as if anticipating when they'd be allowed to caress
the sweet flower that they both seemed too hungry (sweet flower)
Now maybe I was high but it felt so right
heaven and hell both take to this woman's womb
It didn't make sense how she could commence
touching herself with me wide awake in the same room
but if I've learned anything in my years (my years)
I learned I no longer believe in surprise (in surprise)
but what happened next damn near stold my tears
the tattooes came alive right in front of my eyes
they both slowly stood up and climbed off her hands
and showed me why she never took some time with a man
they climbed deep inside of this woman's garden
she closed her eyes and she gently bit her bottom lip
I stepped I left and I don't regret leaving
and I'd never forget all the things I saw that evening
a glimpse of religion a piece of coming closer
to understanding more about what intrigues me most
I didn't get turned on I just got turned
I wasn't as aroused as I was concerned
for each one of em I've hurt
and every time I've been burned
I've got a lot to teach but even more to learn
so now I keep my eyes open hoping to take in all I can
about women taking in all she can
And for as long as I breathe I'll save receipt in my memory
for that woman with the tattooed hands

(Chorus: repeat 5x till song fades)
There's good and evil in each individual fire
Identifies needs and feeds our desire
As long as we keep our spirit inspired
She can bite her bottom lip all she wants

First off, I didn't know if I should put this in the Word or Here... I decided to put this in here 'cause it involves religion for the most part.

In these lyrics by Atmosphere (The Woman With The Tattooed Hands), more specifically in the bold lyrics, what is Atmosphere exactly saying? (What is the metaphor)

First off, he refers to God as a female.
Second, the woman has tattooes of both the devil and god, but they are identical tattooes.
Third, they both are controlled by her but she still loses herself when she allows them to enter her.

Those are the more obvious notations. What do you people make of this?

The culmination of the ultimate of opposites is Perfection, and incomprehensible...

The immaculate emotion, I'd say...

the dichotomy comes from the dexteria - the sinisteria is the left hand and represents "indulgence" and the epiresteria is the right hand anmd represents the "restriction of the self" which ironically makes the indulgence that much sweeter...

Devil is a word that means exactly what God means, in a different language, which has a completely opposite philosophy.

They both mean "Destiny" or "What (GOD) wills to be so"

The two hands are representing the same image, that of a naked woman in the attitude of puella, or "young girl" the filiae - the daughter or the princess. and it is written Israel and Judah shall be like a Princess to her king. That is unified. It is a reference to solomon, and his temple, which is the dwelling place of the Shekinah; The jewish goddess,
which is representative of a woman's body.

The two pillars of the temple, representing the two pillars of Samson, one must pass through to claim adepthood, These are Jachin and Boaz, which are names of Men who married into the canaanite mysteries, and married them into the Tribes.

These two are force and form, the basis of all comparison and opposition; and thus all harmony.

This is commonly portrayed by egyptians as the image of osiris being carresed by Isis and Nepthys... either on his left and right.

I could go on infinitely about this, but I gotta get back to work.

Wow! Amazing job Raum.. But I shouldn't expect anything less..

I took it that Slug (the rapper from Atmosphere) is saying Religion is what you make of it. It can be anything you want it to be. You choose your religion and what you believe in. And Slug is also saying you have to control yourself and can't let Religion control or brainwash you. When she starts fingering herself in the storyline, she starts losing control of what is happening. And that is when religion comes to life. She made it what it was and lost control. Kind of like a bad habit or something.

I don't know if that made sense but it should.

I think this is much more about the mysteries of Woman than the Mysteries of Religion, myself.

Yeah, I didn't gather as much that it was about religion, I took them to be symbols that could be easily understood...

Why is everything that is ever written by an already establish author or rapper considered gold with some secret hidden meaning if it sucks?

Can Aruther Miller not write a shitty play......can Ray Bradbury name his character Guy Montag because he liked the way the name sounded?

Why does EVERYTHING have to have a double, deeper, more symbolic meaning to it?!

(this isn't really about the topic...more of a rant )

because that is the nature of the mysteries of our briat - translated as "creation" - better to use "construction".

to think you do something "simply" for the joy of it,.. is to deny that all conscious thought is but a veil for a huge network of information receptors and processors...

its like saying the computer beeps "because it wants to"

programming tells it to. just like yours tells you to.

And I don't know if this totally sucks, but I tried two samples today, and bad lyrics "girl yo give me hope, if you get wit me, that'd be dope" or some shit... and HORRIBLE sound quality.

I don't understand what you're ranting about L.G., but perhaps you'd be more inclined to talk about it in another thread...
