Ranking the NCAA Confrences [ Football ]
An offshoot of a topic we had in the Heisman thread, don't see why we can't toss shit about it here...I have them like this:
SEC
Pound for pound, the best there is...And now that Spurrier is back, its even better...Traditionally, the teams that beat SEC teams are other SEC teams...The defenses are excellent, the talent level just the same...Intense rivalries, hot cheerleaders (Playmate Lauren Michelle Hill was a South Carolina cheeleader) huge stadiums, excellent facilities...And a confrence championship...
Big 10
Nearly the same as the SEC, minus the confrence championship...
Pac 10
Crazy talent level in the Pac-10, tons of offensive genius...But...Defense as a whole..? Much to be desired...
ACC
You almost couldn't put a better confrence together, but it is relatively new, and so many teams are young and or hurt, it is hard to evaluate...Plus, one of the alignments is kind of weak, the costal division is crazy...But with Miami, FSU, VTech, and now Ga Tech...Shit...This is the confrence to watch...
Big 12
Where's the fucking option..? How can the great Tom Osborne with a championship every fucking year with pure athletes in the backfield, and they come out and say, hmm...Lets fuck up everything and install west coast...Coach Ballard is probably rolling over in his grave...Aside from Texas, there is a big WTF underneath...Kansas beat Nebraska this year...Oklahoma, who was playing for a national champion like ever day, is horrible...For the amount of talent that is in Texas alone (only Cali and Florida compare) this is completely unacceptable...of the 5 majors, they are the worst...Take Teaxas out of this equation, and you're turning the channel...

Great assessment of the Big XII
I completely agree with your breakdown of the Big XII, as goes for this year anyway. I would just add one thing to the mix: Big XII ref's are the absolute worst in the country and they proved it again this past weekend. (And yes I'm a huge Sooner fan)

I think I'd might switch up SEC and Big Ten. The Big Ten seems like the best to me. The others sound about right. It's kind of hard for me to determine b/c I'm on the West Coast and I don't hear much about other conferences

Here trash, let me help sort things out for you...
SEC = LSU, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Auburn, and Tennesse...Those are traditional powerhouses, national championship looming or won in the past 10 years by all but Alabama and Georgia I think...South Carolina is ranked this year as well...The teams that are at the bottom, Vandy, Miss. State, Ole Miss, and UK, only Vandy and UK are consistent cellar dwellars, MSU and Ole Miss are rebuilding...Ole Miss was bowl bound last year...
Big 10 = Michigan, Ohio State, and after that a ton of inconsistent play...Purdue returned all their damn starters almost, and they are 4-7 this year...Wisconsin is 8-3, but they have wins against Temple, North Carolina, and a shootout at Bowling Green...And you can't rank any confrence over the SEC that includes a winless team (Illinois)...Penn State is good this year, but they have been stinking up the place the past 5 years...

Wait a minute there LG...
How is the ACC 'usually' #2..? That division is newly recreated, everyone there that is a powerhouse pretty much just got there...Take away those teams defecting from the Big East last year, and that division is unheard of, right..? If we are talking past 10 years or so maybe...But the SEC is so full of dominant teams, and sick, sick defenses...So, from a traditional standpoint:
SEC
Big 12
Big Ten
Pac 10
ACC
With the Big Ten and the Pac 10 4th and 5th spots interchangeable...

I'm not talking about the conferance...I'm referring to the teams that are in that conferrance now...if they had always been there...then that conferance is usually number 2...
maybe the way I'm doing it is wrong then....
I'm always playing NCAA College Football 2006....so I go off the tendancies of the current conferances...and that is.....the ACC usually has 2-3 teams in the top 10..at all times. Miami, FSU, and VT....Pac 10 only has 1......Big 10 only has 3 that are usually ranked..Michigan, Iowa, and Ohio State......but the ACC teams usually pound them. Big 12 is usally good....Texas and Okalohoma are always capable of doing something big.....but the undisputed is obviously the SEC.
