Anyone out there into Korean films? Korean cinema has had a resurgence lately with great films with great stories that American films wish they could think of. I was wondering if anyone could offer suggestions or post their favorites/opinions.
Recently my faves have been:
- Oldboy
- Failan
- Crying Fist
- Arahan
- Shiri

I did peep SHIRI about a year ago. I won't hate on it because I was completely hooked, visually speaking. Slick and VERY stylish. Color composition and lighting were on point!, the type of hyper-stimuli you get from comic-book graphics.
Unfortunately, that's as far as it went for me. Very personal, though, since I don't give 3 shits about the "2Fast2Furious" brand of action-flicks. The flick did end up being a huge blockbuster in Korea, though...whatever's clever I suppose.

I recommend Oldboy (or Old Boy) as the first movie to see to break you into Korean Cinema. I've recommended it to my friends and they were blown away by it. Give it a rental.
