The ReadyBoost feature...

If you your shit sucks bad on the RAM side...Head to Wal-Mart...Buy you a flash drive, and stick it in a USB 2.0 port and use it as RAM...That fucking owns people..!

Thats a pretty neat feature man. You could extend your ram to many gigs that way without opening your damn system up and inserting ram chips.

Lets get a list going why and why not to use Vista. Pro's and con's. Something like that.

If you have Vista compatible hardware, your list is short...If you don't, then your list is long...My laptop was built for Vista, even though it came w/XP Media Center Edition...From day one, I have had no hardware issues, and relatively few software issues...The UAC is annoying, and Vista does require a new age system to run properly, but I have not even contemplated going back to XP for a second...IMO, Vista is better as a new release than XP was...

I turned off UAC. I think it's useless. Makes the OS less annoying.

What firewall (if any - other than the inbuilt one) are you using with Vista Uber? I had hoped Zonealarm would have one ready by now but they haven't.

Yeah I was just commenting that the vast majority of people that are using computers are pretty clueless...That's who UAC is for, so I can't really hate on them for that...It turns off easy, and that's that...

I'm using the default one, as I did w/XP...I prefer to think that I'm smart enough not to get hacked, lol...In the past, I've used Outpost, which I think is over the top, and what I would use if I were really worried about the kind of thing firewalls are designed to stop...I'm more worried about Virus', and Kaspersky is kicking ass in that dept, so...

Please note: copy bar STILL FUCKING GIVES ME THE WRONG ESTIMATED TIME LEFT!!! I mean, what's the rate calculation? itemsize / kilobytespersec = remaningtime + (remainingtime % 5) + 6?

I'd also like to point out, if it weren't for Vista, you probably wouldn't need to stick more RAM in with ReadyBoost.. lol

could not have said it better myself! Besides, what is the data transfer rate on the USB interface vs just paging to a SATA 3.0 Mbps hard drive. Seems like this is one of those "features" that is worth more to the marketing department than it is in real life.

I had it on my rig for a couple weeks after it first came out. I got a copy of Vista Business from my work (VLA). The one main thing that pissed me off, besides certain applications not working with it, was that my $200 Audigy2 ZS Platinum was turned into a 2.0 sound card with no D3D audio support (EAX). So after 2 weeks I went back to XP SP2.

Well, Creative is working on ALchemy for the Audigy series so I am back to Vista. I like the change back, XP felt sort of old although it is rock solid. I also just got XP 64 from my work. Can I load it in a VM on a 32-bit OS? I wonder...
