Re: Anyone here have a PS3?
I have seen a PS3 once, and even held the controller of a Wii that a friend owns.
But I still don't understand the fascination of the game machines.
Isn't a computer much more versatile?
I have 4 tower PCs, a couple of those breadbox-sized Shuttles, three laptops,
one of these custom car computers,
and a bunch of touchscreen All-in-One PCs for home automation controllers. see below
I HAVE A COUPLE OF THESE FOR SALE -- ASK ME ABOUT IT: P3 1GHz CELERON, 40MB HD,
TOUCHSCREEN, 3 USB, 2 SERIAL, KBD/MOUSE, CD, SPEAKERS, 19V-4.75A POWER = $250 Cdn
I like to play 'Softplan Architectural Draughtsman' with my 12" x 18" Kurta digitizing tablet.
I wish I had the 16 button digitizing puck instead of the 4 button model -- maybe next Christmas!?!?
I just got the new Mitchell-On-Demand DVDs for my laptop.
Now I can tune up the van and fix the Pulsar's tranny!
My favourite "game" of all time is my Corel Graphics Workstation with SignLab 7.
I still have the original CorelDraw version 1a box with 5¼" floppies sitting on a shelf in the office; and legal boxed versions of 2, 3, 4, 5, skipped 6 because it sucked real bad, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12.
I just got the new X4 trial, but I use version 12 for daily work because there are no Vista drivers for the tablets.
I've only got a 48" wide Roland Camm-1800 cutter/plotter right now, but I'm saving up for a 72" solvent printer
for those really big display jobs and fleet graphics.
And I'd really like to get a couple of 20" Wacom Cintiq's to replace the Kurta tablets -- they are COOL!
-- It gives a whole new meaning to "CDR"...
I think real computers are a hell of a lot more fun than game machines.

Re: Anyone here have a PS3?
Most people have both, usually...However, the PS3 is capable of having an OS installed...Mine runs Linux...So, its kinda the best of both worlds, really...

I used to game on computers until I started spending too much money on upgrading my computer. Overall I think consoles save alot of money. There are some games though, that computers just dominate in, such as RTS games.

Re: Anyone here have a PS3?
I think I found the perfect replacement drive for the PS3...
Seagate Momentus 120GB SATA/150 5400RPM 8MB
Performs quite well as I can see, has great space, low power consumptions, and best of all, can be had for less than $80 USD...

Re: Anyone here have a PS3?
Been away for a bit.
I'm annoyed about the situation with the controllers. You have to pay through the nose for a second one and it doesn't even include the charging cable. No big deal I hear you say but FFS at that price it should not only come in the box but be gold plated!!!!
I make no mention of how annoyed I am there was no HDMI cable in the box. They not only cut out backwards compatibility by removing the Emotion enigine chips but they screw you on a vital cable.
I updated mine to 2.2 the other day. Still haven't seen a difference.
I still haven't bought anything else for it yet. I'll definitely get Metal Gear Solid. I'm not into racing games. I watch a DVD rarely on it but mostly play Star Wars Lego right now.

Re: Anyone here have a PS3?
The PS3's value escalates when you through a PSP into the mix...I have no doubt that it has enhanced my appreciation for both machines...
But yeah dude, I was fucking pissed out of the ass about that $50 price tag on those controllers w/no cable...Because I'm always working on some shit I have cables, but still man, that is fucked up...This is why I don't pay full price for shit anymore...How can a $427 machine not include a fucking HDMI cable..? How much does a USB2 cord cost that you can't include one in a $50 fucking dollar controller..? I bought a USB2 cable for my PSP that charges the damn thing at the same time and I bet it was all of $8...
I'm almost scared to go look and see how much a DualShock 3 costs...
Meanwhile, Dual Shock 2 controllers are $10..!!

Re: Anyone here have a PS3?
I got an HDMI cable on amazon for ~$5 and ~$10 total with shipping and all.
I'm debating on getting that DualShock 3. All because it's 15 more days until GTA4 comes out.
By the way, any of you guys buy any blu-ray movies yet? I was thinking about Planet Earth and Juno for this week. I've seen Juno and there was a shark scene in Planet Earth that was just amazing! You can see it here.

Re: Anyone here have a PS3?
Probably gonna snatch up a few classics on Blu Ray myself, shit like Transformers, Superman Returns, and what not...I'm still waiting to catch some HD DVD's on sale, but so far, the price hasn't moved...There are still some good titles on HD DVD worth having, and even better is that you can still watch the DVD part of it...
Gotta have the DS3 for GTA IV me thinks...I'm not looking forwards to spending the extra cake, but I'm pretty sure I'll be playing GTA4 for the next 2 years...Shit, I am still playing San Andreas....

Re: Anyone here have a PS3?
Last time I checked blu-ray movies looked unrealistically expensive. I'd get 300 and Shoot em up if I could find them on blu-ray - but I haven't looked.
