Ok so I succumbed & checked out a handful of reviews @ Rotten Tomatoes. It's holding currently @ an 81% Fresh rating.
I'm loving some of the shit I'm reading. Here's one from IGN

"..will audiences take as much away from the film, which digests and condenses a whole hell of a lot into two-and-a-half hours, as those who have read the novel beforehand?"

"..It's the Watchmen movie you always wanted to see but never expected to get. Snyder's Watchmen is a celebration of how films can add worthwhile dimensions to a beloved story – at all times reverent to the original, but careful to remind us that costumes and masks are never as colourful as the people underneath."

From Dark Horizons:
"Part of that, and one of the reasons fans will adore it so much, is the simple refusal to appeal to an audience unfamiliar with the material. Throwing us in the deep end right from the get go, it demands you pay attention for all of its near three-hour runtime"

""Watchmen" is not an easy film to categorize or review, and in a category dominated by formula it's rare to come across something that can fairly be called unique and inspired."

From the always unmerciful & intelligent Emanuel Levy:

"Released in early March, amidst mindless comedies and inept actioners, "Watchmen" does Hollywood proud as a serious, even grave meditation about all the issues that continue to concern us: legitimate authority, use and abuse of power, science and technology, the role of the government in securing and regulating our everyday lives. And the movie doesn’t neglect more personal or domestic issues, such as trust and love, sex and happiness. Two of the film's strongest sequences deal explicitly with sexual gratification and sexual and emotional impotence."

"I'll just conclude by saying that Moore's "Watchmen" has been credited with elevating the graphic novel to a new art form, and now "Watchmen" the Snyder movie should be treated similarly as a new art form. "

G4 had enough Watchpr0n for me to get excited...

It looks like this is gonna be a GREAT run that is not kiddied up.

Zack basically said "I love this rag. If you don't get it FU, kay? But the [...] didn't work, so we worked around it."

figured that would be the case... love the powerful but unknown cast.

and Jeff as Comedian looks AWESOME!! I was more worried about how he would look than Doc-Man or NightOwl.

Oh, and for Joss (props for your work, man!) - Watchmen was a DC comic, and is about to raise the bar on these flicks HIGH

Except it wasn't a standard DC comic (One in which Moore & Gibbons have tried unsuccessfully to get the rights back to).Anyway Joss was referring mainly to the flaship characters & only movies that were made up to that point.

Yep and it only cost me $6, if I had to compare it to Iron man, yes it was better.

Excellent excellent excellent movie. Not as good as TDK but pretty close to Iron Man if not better. Just well done in every aspect and I didn't really dig the comic that much.
