Breaking news, as in within the last hour, Michael Vick has signed to a two-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Quarterback Michael Vick has signed a two-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, his agent, Joel Segal, confirmed to ESPN.com.

Vick was the No. 1 draft pick in 2001, and once the highest-paid player in football. But he has not played since 2006 when his career came tumbling down. He was convicted in August 2007 of conspiracy and running a dogfighting operation, sentenced to 23 months in federal prison and suspended indefinitely by the NFL.

But after serving his time and being released from home confinement July 20, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell conditionally lifted Vick's suspension, allowing him to sign with a team.

The Eagles travel to meet Vick's former team, the Atlanta Falcons, in Week 13 on Dec. 6.

This is a really interesting signing. They have the potential for an extremely potent offense now: running 2 QB sets, running a 2 back set (Vick and Westbrook), tons of RB option passes with that 2 RB set, and so many more crazy plays. It'll be a very interesting offense to watch IMO

That's what I thought as well.

People everywhere not within Philadelphia are going insane at how they could bring in an QB in addition to QB of the now, McNabb, and QB of the future, Kolb. Philly fans just have yet another thing to gripe aimlessly about... :p

I'm thinking that if they truly want to utilize Vick's talents to the fullest, instead of just signing him to fill a bench spot in case McNabb goes down, they will draw up some Wildcat plays, and if Reid knows what he is doing, convert M. Vick into a dynamic dopplganger of Westbrook, essentially a lite version of Brian, who also has the ability to throw it deep.

Man, I'll tell you this as a Skins fan, even though I think the defense is definitely going to be a sleeper to once again finish in the top-5, this has me beyond intrigued/scared. I don't think you can ever really predict where the ball will be coming from if you have the tandem of McNabb-Westbrook-Vick on the field at the same time.

Great little blindside pickup by the Eagles. I'll be watching more intently to where they go from here.

Consider this...In the 6 years Vick was in the league, he lead the league in YPC 4 of them...His last year he was over 8 YPC, with 1,000 yards rushing...I don't care what you say about pocket passing, there is no way to scheme for that shit...This will be Andy Reid's last year as coach if Vick proves to be in football shape and Philly isn't an absolute nightmare to scheme against...The option is slowly making its way into the NFL, and Vick will revolutionize it...I would not want to play against them, seriously...

Also, Tom Brady is the best QB to ever live...

What did you say? Were you skeptical about his being able to turn around the Lions, or did you not think he was worth the money they handed to him? Personally, even though I don't know a thing about positional individual college football players, I think Stafford has the talent to be a much better quarterback than both Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco flashed last year. Sure, both rookies showed tremendous poise, and were wildly successful, but to me, and what all the hype at the draft and those football pundits were spewing at me, and what I chose to absorb, it seems that Stafford will eventually outshine them both. He may not turn the fortune of the Detroit Lions around this year, or even next year, but say in five-eight years, when there is to be an analysis of the top quarterbacks of the league at that point, I think that Matthew Stafford certainly has what it takes to be in that upper echelon.

Also, why in the hell are there so many "Matt" quarterbacks this decade? I swear, I can count more signal-callers named "Matt" than I have fingers to keep track. If you want your kid to throw lobbed pigskin balls, I guess the best chance you can give him to succeed is to name him 'Matthew'. (If you really want to shake up the NFL, name him 'Mathias'). :p
