Fisher’s future in Tennessee is cloudy
(via Charles Robinson)Kumicho wrote:He might not say it, but you got to think that Jeff Fisher feels like shit for sitting Vince Young the whole season and now they're 4-6...Now he has to do press conferences riding his jock strap...Say what you want, the proof is in the pudding, the team is better with VY, WAY THE FUCK BETTER, and he should loose some points as a coach for letting it digress this far...
ESPN’s Chris Mortensen floated a very interesting note this week: Titans owner Bud Adams could have potentially breached coach Jeff Fisher’s contract by forcing Young back into the starting lineup. If Adams did indeed breach Fisher’s deal, it could potentially be used as a tool to help Fisher escape his contract, if he felt compelled to do so.
There are a few things that are interesting about that revelation. First, it’s interesting that such information would come to light right now, in the midst of a five-game winning streak for the Titans. Make no mistake, contract information is strategically leaked for a specific purpose. Secondly, it’s another eyebrow raiser about Fisher, on top of the Peyton Manning jersey fiasco earlier this season, which also happened to take place after Adams made it known he wanted Young to start again.
Ultimately, you have to wonder if Fisher wants to stay in Tennessee. Maybe Fisher wants a change or a new contract. Maybe he’s finally chafing under Adams. Or maybe he’s not entirely on the same wavelength as Young. It’s a well-known fact that Young was Adams’ choice, and that some members of the coaching staff favored Matt Leinart, taken seven picks later at No. 10 by the Cardinals, in that draft. And clearly Young has done some things that have rubbed Fisher the wrong way in the past.
Maybe I’m just being a conspiracy theorist, but Fisher is a very smart, calculated person. He knows what he’s doing. That’s why the incident with the Manning jersey surprised me, not to mention the fact that he was hardly contrite afterward, even when it clearly irked some of his players. Now this latest tidbit about a potential contact breach surfaces, and it seems more than mere coincidence. Regardless of how Tennessee finishes the season, something deeper appears to be in the works, and I think we’ll find out what it is as the postseason approaches.

Sweet. Maybe he'll return to Chicago. I liked him as a player and was sad to see him leave with Buddy Ryan to coach the Eagles.
I'd rather have him over Shanahan, but I'll take anyone who can coach/draft some freakin' decent o-line guys.

The Minnesota Vikings' offense doesn't just burn defenders -- it burns rubber.
Two days after star running back Adrian Peterson was cited for driving 109 mph in a 55 mph zone, his teammate, wide receiver Bernard Berrian, was ticketed for topping the century mark on an area interstate.
Minnesota authorities say Berrian was driving 104 mph in a 60-mph zone.
Minnesota State Patrol Capt. Matt Langer said Saturday that Berrian was cited for speeding on I-694 in Oakdale about 9:40 p.m. Monday.
The state trooper who pulled Berrian over said he was polite and cooperative, and the trooper apparently did not realize he had stopped a member of the Vikings, WCCO-TV reported.
To recap:
Last Saturday, Peterson was cited for driving 109 mph in a 55 mph zone in Edina.
"It is a little bit odd, but on the other hand, I like the publicity about it, because it sort of tells people here are the ramifications, first of all," Langer said, according to WCCO-TV. "And you're going to get caught."
Video footage of Peterson's traffic stop Nov. 28 shows he reacted with disbelief when he was informed how fast he was going, according to media reports.
"How fast you think you were going?" an Edina police officer asked him, according to The (Minneapolis) Star Tribune. When Peterson replied, "85," the officer replied, "You think you were 30 over the limit? I got you going 109."
After giving Peterson the ticket, the officer told Peterson, "Good luck to you tomorrow," according to the report.

Yeah really man....I don't get why they are consistently bad at the end of the year.
I mean...it can't all be coaching....it can't all be romo sucking in the clutch (neither of which I know enough about to say they're true)
It's like a new curse or something.

Here's an interesting fact that may interest only me:
Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys' starting QB, is 5-11 in the month of December, all-time.
Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers' All-Pro QB, is 15-0 in the month of December. (the only game he lost in Dec. was in week 17 of 2005, where he had never started a game before that; not even thrown a pass in the 2005 regular season before that game. He was the backup, and came in as relief when the the starter got hurt.)
Man, that one comparative makes my day.

I loved this snippet recapping last Sunday night (via Michael Silver)
What got devoured more quickly Sunday night – Larry Fitzgerald Sr.’s ice-cream sandwich or Adrian Peterson on running plays?

This was my preseason prediction; how does it look now? :pKumicho wrote:Fuck the rest of the season, lets have that Saints/Colts Superbowl NOW!
Given that Drew Brees believes in destiny and karma, can we also assume he believes he’ll face (and defeat) a certain team from San Diego in the Super Bowl?
