Re: X-Men: First Class
I'm worried that this will be a trend though. It worked VERY well with Star Trek, going back to the early years. I am looking forward to this X-Men movie though, unlike the last one.

I saw it at a press screening over the weekend. Best comic movie since the original Iron Man! Certainly the best of the X-films.

Yeah, the first Iron Man movie was really well done. Second didn't impress me but the first was amazing to say the least.Sir Jig-A-Lot wrote:I saw it at a press screening over the weekend. Best comic movie since the original Iron Man! Certainly the best of the X-films.

After Thor and Hangover2 I'm ready to wave a white flag and surrender to a just sorta good movie. My standards are so low right now.

Re: X-Men: First Class
X-Men:First Class gets a 9/10 from me. That shit is easily in my Top 10 Comic Book movies. It's got serious rewatchability factor unlike say Thor which I doubt I will ever watch again. Everyone brought their A-Game to this outing & it shows. It was so refreshing to have a X-movie that didn't obsess over fucking Wolverine & shuffle everybody else into the background. Everyone got their chance to shine with possibly January Jones being the exception. Emma Frost was not very fleshed out,but there is time for that. Kevin Bacon is one badass villain. After seeing this, I can totally see Fassbender becoming the next 007 if Daniel Craig decides to step down. I was shocked to discover that the kid playing Beast was the weird little boy who co-starred with Hugh Grant in About A Boy all grown up. Another great thing about how this film was made is that if you want to see it as a prequel to the other X-Men movies, you can. It also has enough standalone chutzpah that if they decide to go off into their own continuity (I hope they do honestly), they can. This is not throwaway summer blockbuster crap designed to milk a quick buck outta you like Transformers or a Star Wars prequel. Nor is it a 3D/IMAX distraction. It's a rewarding effort in & of it's own. If you shell out for anything at the multiplex this summer, This is The One. Go see it kids!

Re: X-Men: First Class
WOW great praise! Every scene I've seen looks great, I've seen so many actually that I feel like I've seen the entire movie now. It's funy how all we kept hearing was script rerwrites and production problems on the set and this may turn out to be the best superhero flick of the summer. Maybe the time era of the characters is off but the characters themselves all seem pretty faithfully adapted from the comics unlike Thor. Bendis probably had nothing to do with this.

There it is, this should redeem the craptastic ass movie called Thor we went to see...I thought this looked badass from the trailers, so I consider it a must see at this point...
Although, I am slightly excited to see Transformers 3 in IMAX 3D...Seems like a good candidate for it...I've yet to see an IMAX yet...

Re: X-Men: First Class
This was in development for more than 2 years, but the moment Vaughn signed on to rewrite & direct, from start to release took him a measly 10 months. That is fucking fast for a film like this with all the effects & whatnot. Especially for a film this good. Darkie, I think the fact it's set in a different era works for it. Another thing I will say is that just like Dark Knight, First Class pushes hard against what you can get away with in a PG13 movie. The violence is of the quality kind. It even has one "Fuck" exclaimed by a surprising cameo which even took me aback. So,No, A lot of the good stuff isn't featured in the trailers or tv spots. Okay, I'm gonna put it out there now I have peeped it twice: This may be better than Iron Man. I say this only due to the rushed final battle between Stark & Stane. There I said it! Bendis had nothing to do with this.
